Everyone has seen in movies and tv when the wife throws the ring back to the husband during the big divorce fight, but that can’t really be what happened. Did she keep it? Give it back? Did you ever see it again?

That's only in the movies. In real life, 99% of them end up at a pawn shop.

It was coincidentally stolen around the same time as we signed the divorce papers. It’s a good thing we had jewelers mutual.

I Imagine she sold it to buy more clearance section pastries from the Monroe Walmart to binge and purge.

Mine is somewhere in the i20 median.

You give it to wife #2.

I actually made a thread about this long time ago asking if the OT believed this was acceptable and to my surprise, the replies were mixed.

She kept it and still has it today. It is a nice one at that.

I let her keep it. Regardless of its actual worth, it was worth more to me to leave her with the reminder, and for me not to have to carry the reminder around until I could figure out what to do with it.

there's a lot of things I didn't do right in my first marriage and the divorce but one thing I did do was demand the rings as "the terms of the contract had been broken". I had the stone from the engagement ring removed and in safe deposit box but I still have the setting for both that and the wedding ring and planned to sell them at some point since they're 18K

Got robbed at one of my own parties and the ring was part of the stolen items taken from my bedroom. Will never know who took it.

Mine told me it would be in the garage when I came to pick up my stuff. It wasn’t and I knew it wouldn’t be. I’m 99.9999999% sure it was sold at some point.

Worst money I ever spent.

I thought the legality of it is you are only legally entitled to have it back if the engagement breaks off prior to marriage, so I don't know why she would need to lie about it being stolen nor what your jeweler has to do with it.

Whatever I could get in my pickup truck was all I took with me. I picked up the mountain of debt that was left, too.

The price of wings was high, but it was worth it.
