I don't think it's so much he met with him, but the over the top display with a head chopper is a bit much.

lmao no, it just shows the anti-Christian lobby owns him.

Not surprising after he took $230M in campaign contributions from them

Are we supposed to pretend like he doesn't exist or that he isn't the leader of Syria?

When was the last time the president of Syria was invited to the white house?

YES

It shows he is at ease and friendly. I don’t trust anyone who cannot be at ease. There’s always something to hide with them.

1946 I believe. I'm honestly conflicted. Part of me has a serious problem with it, another part of me does take the "realpolitik" view & thinks, "Well, he is the leader of Syria so we might need to work with him."

However, I'm not sure working with him requires bringing him to the White House, and I still have major issues given the atrocities against Syrian Christians. I mean, what was it last week or the week before Trump is like, "Christians are being massacred in Nigeria, people!" To follow that up with, "Pete, the bounty is off cancel the drone strike the bastard is currently in the Oval Office! I'm standing in here!"

News flash

A lot of leaders of other countries started as revolutionaries in their country.
And they have a lot of blood on their hands.

I think it’s fantastic Trump invited him to the WH. We need to provide Syria with sanction relief to try to get that country rebuilt. The new guy hasn’t done anything since taking power which could be construed as him still being a terrorist, al Queda supporting stooge. I really think he has good intentions after being involved in so much death and horror…his mind flipped a switch.

Uhhh… you know Obama’s goal was diplomatic relations with Syria and reopened engagement from 2009 through 2011.

What is the issue with again seeking reengagement to counter the rising Iranian influence? If he fricks up, they go right back to being isolated.

Of course not.

But all Trump cares about is donors & special interest groups so this tracks.

WE ?

There was a decade long civil war between at least 3 factions and the turkey backed rebels ultimately won.

this guy ensures peace in Syria compared to the war and death before.
