Agree. We fired him because he was mailing it in. He doesn't want to coach anymore. He wants all the money contractually obligated to him and he will retire.

This. He said as much when he came here. All he was looking for was a natty. "This is my last job". For all his faults, being honest (to a fault some times) is not.one of them

I'm confused why anyone would think that he would take less money unless he is forced to? LSU signed the contract. Unless they can prove he breached that contract, they owe him $54M and I'm not sure why yall expect BK to take a penny less? Its not like hes a good guy but even a good guy would be fool to accept anything less than what is contractually owed.

He is owed $54 million. Why would he be testing the job market?

I don’t think Kelly really wants to coach again, and no decent P4 program is hiring him.

Was it the reports of him smiling and throwing up the deuces when he was dismissed that gave this away?

An analyst? How can be be an analyst when he can't make good coaching decisions. Would you hire someone for a job that they previously failed at?

Because that's how these things usually work and $30 million in his hands today is worth more than $800k in his hands every month for the next 6 years.

He wants that lump sum now so that any future job he has won't be used to decrease the amount of the buyout amount

His problem is that he's naturally very unlikable.

I think he thought PSU or Florida would have interest in signing him to another big contract. Once he found out there was little interest in him by any big name school and definitely not at the same amount left on his LSU contract, he decided he would just retire and have LSU pay the rest of his contract.

He is done coaching major college football. Now that it has come out how little he worked, no one will hire him at a Power Conference School. Also, he has turned out to be very unlikeable which does not help in any career path. I assume that is part of the reason he is not willing to take less money.

If that were the case, he’d just accept the monthly payoff. $800k per month for the next 6 years to go fishing, watch tv, beat off all day, etc. I mean, I know I would.

Instead it sounds like he just wants a $54 million lump sum.
