Will you interfere in LSU athletics including coaching hires?
Yes or No.

Jindal intervened in athletics
Edwards stayed out of it for the most part
Landry has been a disaster and the live tiger on the field started it all

I agree that the governor should stay out of the business with LSU head coach but some of you think LSU is the most important thing regarding the state are delusional. Even if the governor is 100% wrong about this head coach situation, if he improves the states budget, crime rate, and overall image then good for him. Louisiana is viewed as a dumpster fire from the years of poor politics and financial mismanagement. You want to make LSU better then improve education, crime, and imagine and you might improve the quality of athlete on your football team.

At this point I feel like Landry is intentionally trying to run LSU athletics into the ground. He probably hated LSU growing up and now that he has power he’s going to take advantage of it.

It actually started with the WBB national anthem debacle that was a giant nothing burger he made into an embarrassment.

Or do I have my timeline mixed up?

One of the first things he did was threaten football season to get his tax hikes passed

It is what happens when we elect an insecure incompetent narcissist to the highest office in the state

John McKeithen actively recruited for LSU, and probably a good thing he did as Mac was not a great recruiter, and when McKeithen was out of the picture Mac's recruiting did not hold up as well.

But that was such a different time it's not at all comparable, but many governors have had their hands in LSU football going back to the most famous, Huey Long who was the original hire and fire coaches.

The future doesn’t have Landry being governor after the next election.

Well except traveling with his entourage to games.

And COVID. I guess we forgot about that.

Landry didn’t hire Brian Kelly, or fire Will Wade.

JBE did not threaten LSU Football at all. He simply stated the truth, once, that it would impact LSU Football if LSU were to cancel Summer School which they were considering doing. A large number of players use Summer School to stay eligible.

JBE was and is nothing but an LSU fan and longtime season ticket holder, tickets he bought long before he got into politics.

I met JBE through roadway projects I was involved in and he’s a good dude. I usually vote republican (voted for Landry), but I think we had it decent with JBE. He did a lot to secure funding for state transportation projects, but probably won’t get credit cause people will see orange cones out with Landry or his successor in office.
JBE was never going to mess with lsu football. Used to see him in church on LSU’s campus all the time, he’s a huge LSU fan. Devout catholic, West Point grad. Non-politically he’s probably more conservative than a lot of conservatives.

Landry on the other hand has done nothing but stick his nose where it doesn’t belong since in office.
