Planting his flag on Arvel Reese as #1
Simpson over Mendoza
Faulk over Bain
Carnell Tate could end up as WR1
Considering the Saints possible range of draft slot outcomes, give me your top 5 wants for this ball club. You can’t trade down

Simpson needs another year of college IMO, but going to be tough to pass up the money after seeing guys like Nuss and Klubnik come back and tank their stock.

Give me #9 from Texas A&M.

Yes I’m not sure what Simpson will do. He already has his degree and his stock may never be higher. I’d guess he comes out.
I think Moore and Sellers return seeing as they’re young and need refining and they will still get paid regardless in college

Saints are def. Goin DE in round 1.

Was not expecting this, and this is not a criticism of Simpson. Just seems like Mendoza has the hype machine working overtime for him, and there are a large number of "big boards" and mocks with Mendoza over Simpson. Many have Simpson 3rd behind Moore.

Young QBs need strong offensive lines, and a stout defense. Based on this list give me any of the top 6 defenders: Reese, Downs, Faulk, Bain, McCoy, Woods

Can never say definitely with this front office. We currently have an opening at one of the Guard positions, can Fuaga, Banks, or Spencer Fano slid in to play LG or RG

I don’t like Bain or Faulk honestly. Have watched multiple of each of their games and have come away unimpressed. They also only have 3 and 2 sacks respectively. I think Reese and Downs are both going to be great players, but I am really hoping we go offensive skill position. Can’t expect to roll out these offensive weapons and have consistent success on offense. If we can trade down a few picks and still land Jordyn Tyson that would be my ideal outcome

How tf is Sellers so high, he looks worse than Nuss this season

Mike Shila was fired as the offensive coordinator at South Carolina not long ago.
Makes you wonder if it was coaching?
Even though the players are getting paid now, I still put it more on coaching at the college level, but I guess we'll see.

He was great as a freshman with 7.5 sacks and 12.5 TFL
In his sophomore and junior years combined he has 6.5 sacks and 11.5 TFL
Didn’t exactly become the all American he was expected to be after his freshman year

I do not care for Simpson. He's going to measure 6'1" at best and is nothing special athletically. He's a good QB on a great team.
I'd love Arvell Reese. Bain seems undersized and his production has tailed off. Love Caleb Downs but hate to draft a safety in top 5. I don't know anything about Keldric Faulk.
If we end up in top 3 and Reese is gone, I'd try to trade down in top 10 for Downs or one of the WR Tate or Tyson. This assumes Shough is still playing well enough to give him another season at QB.
The 2027 draft could have QBs Dante Moore, Lanoris Sellars, Arch Manning, Julian Sayin, Drew Allar...

As of now I feel the same way. I think Bain may have length concerns. Faulk worries me in that he fits the Saints failed DE profile - great size length athleticism but not a ton of production, albeit he’s asked to do different things in their scheme

i think Fano is slightly underrated in his rankings.
Posted on 11/11/25 at 1:35 pm to GynoSandberg
Reese is the choice if you can get him.
Otherwise, Downs, Faulk and, believe it or not, Fano
Bain feels like a future bust and there will be lots of WR options at the top of round 2

I'm going to assume we land 6th or 7th, we cannot outtank NYJ and Tennessee.
We'll do better than Cleveland, NYG, and LV. TBD on Atlanta IMHO
Of those 5:
NYJ - needs a QB
Cleveland - needs a QB
LV - needs a QB
So that hopefully means Mendoza and Simpson get taken.
Assuming Reese, Faulk, and Downs get taken; we''ll be in a good spot to get Tyson or Tate
