With Austin Thomas running the roster, Shep would be able to recruit at a very high level.

If he could nail down a top tier OC, it might work. You know he would be able to get more out of these guys than almost anyone and has a track record of excellence throughout his career, even as a player.

Who do you think Shep would bring in as an OC? His very brief coaching experience is all with his former team. He may be an excellent coach (I actually think he will be great) but I'd be surprised if he has the connections around coaching circles to build out a competent staff around him at this moment

I agree. Can’t really explain it but I can imagine him in the P&G on the sideline and something about it feels like it would work to me.

You want him as the DC fine. Otherwise stop with all this Bull shite. That goes for Joe Brady and Saban as well.

Very good point. His best shot would probably be to keep Atkins honestly.

$$$$$ goes a long way in finding a great OC.

It would also be a huge plus having a young black head coach dominating on the sideline that is passionate for LSU.

I don’t disagree with that logic. I’m just saying I’m at a point where I could support it.

I’d be willing to bet through his brief career someone is willing give give him a referral to someone that would be a great OC. Dan Campbell has connections

Me too. The idea of him getting the job doesn’t make me want to throw up like some others I see mentioned.

Shep used to cry in practice at LSU.

Agree. The SEC is not the place for on the job training.

If he gets the job, it means we blew it with other more highly qualified candidates.

Great plan. Let's potentially wait around until late January to mid February for a first-time coordinator to run our program because "it might work".

It would be just like Frank. He could get the team fired up but if he doesn't have the experience then we'll get the bad time management and play calling all over again.

Dude wouldn’t even be in the conversation if he didn’t play at LSU. Anybody else with those qualifications would get laughed out of the building.

I get it….that is what my head says too, but for some reason my heart thinks differently.

I would’ve said the same for Mike Tomlin when he got the Steelers HC Job though.
