PFF says Oline gave Nuss great pockets against bama

Gave the oline 90%pass blocking grade.
Suggesting it was Nuss’s inability to make a quick decision on where to go with the ball.

Nuss and rushing scheme are the problem

This is correct down to his last play where he ran himself into a sack

I concur. I would also include our shitty route trees.

Nuss really likes to run backwards

Nuss was 18-21.

That must be the reason he went 18-21 last night.

Can’t run the ball blocking with 5. We have no TE and no FB. Just throw it 60 times because the way Kelly built the roster that’s all you can do

There aren’t even many below average QBs that can’t go 18-21 throwing check downs and screens… that’s not an impressive stat in this scenario.

Yet MVB (who didn't play great) had more 3rd down conversions than him in just a quarter and change. Nuss barely had any completions of any significance.

35-40 for 175 this weekend. I hope they screen Arkansas into submission.

Dude, Nuss is a fricking trashcan. It doesn’t matter what kind of pocket he has, he sucks. He should never see the field again at LSU.

Those short routes and screens also help the Oline grade.

His Average yards per attempt was 5.8 yards.
Elite: 9+
Good: 8-9
Average:7-7.9
Below Average: 6-6.9
Failure: Below 6

Now do MVB.

More evidence that Nuss is the worst QB of all time

Agree Nuss had time
This offensive scheme is just awful. No identity, no rhythm, no leadership.
It’s stunning the lack of deep shots taken this season with the WRs we have. I know Nuss’s injury likely a big reason but coming off a Bye and in this scenario w/ an interim HC I’m surprised we didn’t take more shots. This game plan mirrored every other we’ve seen.
The other issue is the amount of negative plays stemming from bad discipline/penalties and bad scheme. How many games have we routines found ourselves off schedule and way behind the sticks? I can’t remember a game where we didn’t face 2nd and 14 or 3rd and 15 way too often. When that happens, your percentages of competing passes drops significantly no matter how much time the OLine is providing, obviously.
Should we be able to scheme guys open with our weapons far more than we have this season? Yes.
Do we scheme to put the defense in conflict, adjust properly, find & target their worst defender, effectively/deliberately use mismatches like Green? Nope.
Has the lack of a deep passing game limited this offense? Yes - every DC is going to play tight man or shallow quarters. No brainer. Also why the screen game doesn’t work because DBs aren’t concerned about getting blown by off the line.
Nuss hasn’t been great. OLine has been far from great. There has been bad luck with injuries. But more than anything else, this all likely stems from a bad culture and terrible scheme.

Maybe. Also not very hard to get a good pass blocking grade when you only have to hold a block for one second so I guess it goes both ways huh

The O-line was definitely at fault for allowing pressure from a 3 man rush. But even that goes unnoticed if Nuss can simply slide the correct direction occasionally Other than that, pass blocking was not the main issue last night.
