I don’t think we end up with any of the three to be honest. They definitely trying to go big game hunting.

Kiffin
Freeman
Lanning

In that order.

If that’s accurate that’s pretty concerning because Lanning should be the #1 option out of those 3 by a country mile

Why? What about him is even remotely exciting?

Verge better get this right or he's going down in flames. We need a coach who will bring back the fans that Kelly lost and get people excited again.

Marcus Freeman ain't that guy.

Has Freeman really done anything at ND that BK didn’t do?

I think he is a good coach, but I don’t get all the hype either? He would be a decent hire, but not anything special.

Why would Freeman come here? Especially what happened to last ND coach. Lanning? Why’d he leave? He has the cush west coast recruiting and nike money and not a ton of pressure like here.

Your birdie must have missed the multiple times Lanning has said he is not leaving Oregon.

Agreed. Maybe we hire Freeman, ND goes and rehires Kelly, we off the hook for a big chunk of the buyout lol. Profit

just dont get the obsession with Lanning.

Got punked twice by Deboer in his first season with a much better roster, blown out by ohio state last year, and is going to be a fringe playoff team this year. Oregon was a wagon before him, he hasn’t elevated the program.

Id rather Kiffin and Freeman

Lanning is nobody's option. His buyout is tied to a building improvement. Well north of 20 million.

If anyone tells you Lanning then you know it's BS.

I was told Lanning has a contract with Nike that doesn’t make it possible for him to leave.

Have talked to three different notre dame guys and one friend who played at Kent State when Freeman was LB coach (still talks to him loosely) and they said there is no way Freeman comes to south Louisiana.

Just passing on what I heard. Like I said, personally, I don’t think they end up with any of the three.

Yep

His actual buyout is $20m… and the Nike stock he would forfeit is another $20 or so million.

No true insider is saying Lanning because it can’t happen.

Don’t forget, Verge’s son plays for Freeman right now so he definitely has a personal relationship with him already established.

Fair but that SEC team was forced to play a backup QB
