Did a search and didn't see anything about this.

From Footballscoops.com

Wisconsin will retain embattled head coach Luke Fickell for a fourth season atop the program, the program announced Thursday. Rather than fire Fickell and pay a buyout in the neighborhood of $25 million, Wisconsin decided that money would be better spent inside the program.

gotta say, i was certain they made the best hire of the 2022 cycle

i know he tried to change them from their traditional 3 yds and a cloud of dust offense, but that alone shouldn’t account for their collapse

i wonder what went wrong, he seemed like a great program builder and tactician at Cincy

Probably a reasonable move rather than jump into a crowded marketplace.

It's doubtful any "big name" coaches will be on the move. So the likes of LSU, Florida, Penn State, Auburn will have to settle for next tier candidates. That means a school like Wisconsin will be relegated to even lower tier candidates.

These things go in cycles. At the end of last season there were no coaching changes in the SEC. This year there will be at least 4 (maybe more). The Big 10 hasn't been as reactionary in firing coaches as the SEC. At least among the big players who are above Wisconsin.

If they bite the bullet one more season they may be in a better position of leverage next year.

I'm in this boat. He will probably be on a short leash next year.

The offensive changes he tried to make didn’t help but the real problem has been the massive NIL revolution that coincided with him taking over at Wisconsin.

Unfortunately for fickell here to present Wisconsin’s NIL program/commitment is terrible. Honestly. One of the worst in the big ten. The team they have is untalented.

Truly an example where if you take the buyout money and give it to players you’d be in an infinitely better position

Florida State may be in this boat as well.

It reminds me of when Osborne retired at Nebraska and his well respected replacement tried to modernize the game approach. It was an equal disaster.

I remember having the same thought to if the recruiting system and local talent was simply not conducive to the change.

I’m with you. I thought he would elevate Wisconsin and have them contending with Ohio state for big 10 titles.

Just goes to show how crazy college football is.
