What would stop him from a Dynasty now?

His conservative outdated offense.

I think Les (sadly) has some mental issues now.

Else, would need a good DC and STs coach to sustain his patented pound--n-punt offense. Les was an amazing recruiter

He’d probably bring JJ back.

He still went .500 against freaking Arkansas when he was here and also consistently played down to Ole Miss.

He wouldn’t play against Saban, but he also wouldn’t have Saban preceding him. Not sure how successful he would have been the first time without Saban paving the way.

I believe this more than losing to Saban was his downfall. We would always be ranked in the top ten, lose to Saban, then seemingly drop a game to OM or Arky, or both. And it would take us out of what would have been a NY6 bowl.

Les was stubborn and would not change game plans for different opponents.
he was a classic Midwestern Michigan coach of the 80s and 90s.

I think he would have 2 more titles.

2011
2012

We'd look at him very differently.

I still don't think I would ever get over how hard he fricked up that 2015 season. Bring in another transfer QB and just adapt your style a little and that should have been a title team. We had all the talent.

3 Lineman that have had longer than average NFL Careers (Pocic, Clapp, Hawkins)
Chark
Fournette/Williams
Tre White
Donte Jackson
Jamal Adams
Kendell Beckwith
Debo Jones
Jalen Mills
Duke Riley
Devin Godchaux
Arden Key

Some of these guys were young, but that roster especially on the defensive side was loaded.

All we needed was an intermediate passing game to stop teams from loading the box that year.

Edit - I left out Beckwith, maybe the most impressive that year

Well he would have won the chip in 11’ and definitely 12’. But by 2016, he was still going to be on the hot seat, but being a 3 time champion, he would have made it to 2019 - 2021, depending on if they gave him an “extra” year for the 2020 season, but then COVID would have bought him 1 more year and in 2021 he would have been fired.

Transfer QB?? You could just

2015 was before the transfer portal existed. In 2015, unless a player graduated, they were forced to sit out a year if they transferred.

Mettenberger transferred from the junior college level so he was not required to sit out a year. Players like him didn't exist at the JC level every year.
