Why isnt the GOP out hammering on what a dumpster fire Obamacare is?

Because they don't have a healthcare policy of their own.

Trump has been saying he will release his healthcare plan in "2 weeks" for over 10 years now.

They're all taking money from pharmaceutical and healthcare lobbyists. The Dems are all in and the GOP is too scared to face it head on and lose that money.

Because the Affordable Care Act is actually pretty popular. It allows people who otherwise don’t have access to health insurance to get covered.

I’m old enough to remember when health insurance companies wouldn’t cover people for “pre-existing conditions,” which was a complete scam. The ACA actually forbids that practice, which was a game changer for so many Americans.

Trump keeps saying that he wants healthcare to be cheaper and better but I don’t m own how they are going to do without an individual mandate.

How people forget . . .

Trump had every opportunity to gut Obamacare the first time he was elected. He did nothing. I think that was the largest failure of his first presidency, especially the first two years of it when he had the votes.

Now, it is too large and too woven into our society. And, I’ve seen no alternative.

People, especially self-employed people (and many others) now have few choices. Yes, it is a dumpster fire for our economy and healthcare cost, but it scares the shite out of people to not know how they and their families are covered.

It’s not all black-and-white. I mean if you have an accident tomorrow that leaves you disabled, there is a two-year waiting period for Medicare, what do you think you do during that time? And that is only for you. What if you’re a single parent? How are your children covered? Medicaid?

You think making cuts have hurt Republicans now? Obamacare has become so large, that any cuts made without a true, well thought-out alternative choice, will never get Republicans elected again.

If I don’t have insurance, and I get cancer and then I go to get insurance to get covered for my cancer, that cancer is a pre-existing condition.

Same with diabetes. Or arthritis. Or allergies. Or pretty much any health condition.

Insurance is predicated on the idea of unknown risk. Me needing complex, ongoing care and then deciding that I should have someone else pay for it isn’t in any way shape or form insurance
