How come more people aren't heeding the warnings of the Godfather of AI?

This guy will scare the shite out of you. Best case scenario, AGI will cause the economy to collapse and make the world miserable. Worst case scenario, AGI will "take over," which is Godfather of AI code for making us extinct.
If it was a liquor drink (4 parts this, 2 parts this, 1 part that), why do you think that more people aren't heeding the warnings of the Godfather of AI?
• People have been predicting the end of civilization since the beginning of civilization. They've all been wrong before. People on the internet are always trying to tell me that we're on the verge of something crazy happening and we're all screwed.
• People are reactionary. Too busy with their own lives in the mean time. I'll keep waking up and brushing my teeth and going to work until AGI gets here, and when it gets here I'll figure out what to do after that.
• The Godfather of AI is just an old quack job yelling at clouds.

That’s some strong opinions about Adjusted Gross Income…

It makes funny pictures and videos and tells cute little stories. That's all most people care about.

I have it on good authority from multiple highly qualified experts who have spent tens of minutes screwing around with the free version of ChatGPT and watching AI TikTok memes that the $320 billion yearly that American tech companies are spending on AI R&D is just lighting money on fire and AI will never be anything more than a novelty.

Developing AGI is a bad fricking idea. Companies should be banned from working on it.

Because baring some huge leap in tech that no one knows about, LLMs are not going to get us to AGI.

Who is stopping Russia, North Korea or China from developing it?

They shouldn't build it either.
I know they'll do it anyway, but the thought of 10,000-IQ super intelligent computers is terrifying.

Maybe "baking a cake" instead of "making a liquor drink" would've worked better for ya.

I have no ability to change it
I’m ill equipped to confidently say what’s actually going to happen
There sure are a variety of opinions
It makes it hard to confidently riot in the street for a solution

The videos with the fat, sloppy, disgusting people throwing fits at the buffet when told to leave is why AI was created in my opinion. Those are just great entertainment.
