Orgeron's final buyout check from LSU is in December. LSU might be paying THREE head football coaches if they hire someone in the next month.

quote:

The buyout has been a source of frustration for some. One member of the LSU Board of Supervisors, vice chairman Lee Mallett, called recent buyouts “financially terrible to us” at a September board meeting. He referenced Kelly’s contract and the $17.1 million paid to former coach Ed Orgeron after he was fired in 2021. Orgeron will receive his final payment in December.

What was 2019 worth to you?

Woody, the Boards favorite DC, made the deal, just as he did with Kelly.
What was it worth hiring Pellini, hiring Kelly, and now this Fiasco.

Florida is going to pay 3 coaches for the next 2 years . Napier's buyout is $10.6M this year; $2.65M/yr 2026-2029 and Mullen's buyout is through 2027 at $1M/yr. Napier was already paid over $6M part of his contract while active this year.

So a little breakdown:

2025
Napier = ~$17M
Mullen = $1M

2026
New Coach = ~$8M-$11M
Napier = $2.65M
Mullen = $1M

2027
New Coach = ~$8M-$11M
Napier = $2.65M
Mullen = $1M

That's their reality the next few years

My dream job would be to get hired by LSU with a high dollar extended contract and then get fired the next day and get paid the buyout.

Greatest season in college football history.

Still feels incredible, but yes, I'd like to see the Tigers be a contender again.

But I was told that the boosters paid this freight. What do the BOS care about this?

Mullen is now head coach at UNLV so his I assume his buyout will be offset by his current salary.

^this needs to be answered. Why do they care if they aren't paying for it?
