If the young guys improve, and we can solidify the Oline….2026 could set a foundation for the future. I’d like to see us spend on young linemen in FA.

Looks like we will finally have a little cap space and budget, and enough draft picks to gain some valuable pieces.

I’m wondering if you consider a QB option that Moore can rehab or who can mentor Shough rather than taking a chance on a weak draft.

Murray, Flacco, etc

Get one of the top guards in FA. Get a guard in round 2. Get top 3-4 NT in rounds 3 or 4. Get a new FG kicker. Profit

Why the frick would a rebuilding team get Flacco? Seriously, have you never seen a rebuild before? It is Shough or Top 3 rookie QB. Thats it. There is nothing else that matters.

I’m already simulating drafts

Amazing if this can happen.
Saint trade first to jets for
3, 33, 35, 2027 Dallas 1 and 2027 Indy 1.

Who wouldn’t take this trade? They take Mendoza, but we still get Bain or trade back again.

This is why we need to loose the rest of the games. Franchise leverage.

All of this is true, except for the NT in 3/4. NT is critical to effectively run a 3-4 defense (well 3-3 since we have 5 DBs on 90% of the snaps), but they aren't much available anymore. They have always been a rare commodity, so when the right one is there they usually are snatched up earlier than round 3.

Bresee is a perfect build for a 3 line DE. He is that hybrid DT/DE that is needed, and I can see him thriving in this system similar to TJ Watt in Pitt. The issue is that we don't have the big boy in the middle to clog up that interior 3. We also need a big Safety and MLB. That will free up Bresee to dominate

I’m so tired of this “just sign good OL in FA” line. There aren’t good OL in FA. OL play is bad across the league, and guys who are worth a shite don’t hit free agency. The best of those that do are average and get massively overpaid.

There is no “young, good” OL in FA. Literally. None.

Will be interesting to see if Mickey gets aggressive with his spending to try and jump start the process. Obviously if they hit the right players, I think they could flip the starting line-up in 1 offseason and would need another 1-2 years to build the depth. But, if you miss on any big FAs, it will be a big miss because of the shape of the rest of the roster.

The biggest key is, where does Mickey find the money. In years past, he had big contracts that he could use to manipulate to kick the can down the road. But it looks like they'll have about $110.8M in dead money that cannot be stretched; this includes Taysom, Cam, Demario & Foster's cap hits due to void years. That is roughly 35% of the cap space ties to players no longer with the team.

Your big salary players that can be adjusted are AK ($11.5M salary), McCoy ($10M), Chase ($14.8M), Granderson ($10.75M), Olave ($15.5M), Ruiz ($9.5M), Juwan ($9M) & Reid ($9.25M).

Olave should be traded or extended this offseason, but other than him and Granderson whose contract do you touch?

Sadly, McCoy, Chase & AK will most likely get restructures.

As proof of this, I remember when Peat hit FAs, there were a number of jokes/comments about how funny it was that he was considered one of the top LGs in FAs that year

Wtf are you talking about? They play entirely different positions, and Breese weighs 60 pounds more than Watt.

Good guards hit free agency all the time, but they get way overpaid. It’s why those teams let them go. Cheaper to just draft one in the third round and make them a starter.

As long as Loomis is still in charge, I have close to zero faith we are going to get much better in the offseason. He's literally the one who got this roster in the mess its in now.

Yes, but, there's no doubt that the Saints are going to lose most of their games next season, too.

You comparing Watt to Breese and I’m drunk lol. Yea ok.

I’m guessing you meant JJ Watt and not TJ. TJ plays the Chase Young role in our D.
