That menu looks like many many other normal mom and pop places.

When was the last time you saw Smothered Rabbit at a Mom and Pops place?
Posted on 11/5/25 at 5:44 pm to LSUDad
Antler’s in Lafayette (RIP) would serve smothered rabbit.
T-Coon’s may serve it. But there’s certainly not a large amount of places that do.

30 years ago, before they started mass distribution, they had the BEST boudin on the planet. I ate it a few years ago at Crazy 'Bout Crawfish in Breaux Bridge and it was still pretty good ?

Ok. You found one thing that many other places don’t do. And it’s not even that “unique.” It’s a cafeteria line, generic neighborhood restaurant lol
Baked chicken
Crawfish etoufee
Red beans and sausage
Smothered pork chops
Fried chicken
Bbq sausage
Roast
Sausage stew
Hamburger steak
Fried shrimp
Fried fish
Bbq ribs
Mashed potatoes
Coke slaw
Potato salad
Smothered potatoes
Green bean casserole
Baked beans
Max n cheese
Yea man! Really unique and authentic menu lol

Not really. It took. Couple minutes?

Yea I didn’t list every single thing. Does pork backbone stew make it superrrrr unique? lol

Someone recently posted pics here of some of the plate lunches, and they looked fantastic.
I've eaten lunch there only once, years ago, and there will be a return visit if I'm in the area at lunch.
I do recall buying boudin and other frozen items to go. None of them were good enough to warrant a return on their own.

While it's not in my top 5, this is far from the truth.

Good, don't get it. I've had a plate lunch there a time or two and enjoyed what I got

It's the only boudin I've ever spit out and thrown away after one bite. Tried it again a year later and figured the first time was just a fluke or a bad batch. Spit it out and threw it away in the trashcan right outside their door just like the first time. Garbage

Kartchner's boudin for me, it's rice and gravy in a casing. I never understood the love for it. Don's/Best Stop/Billy's/NuNu's all within a 1/2 mile of each other are worlds above it.

I've had Kartchner's, along with a million other places' boudin. Nothing about it resembles "rice and gravy in a casing." Are you saying that because it's moist as opposed to dry? Honestly, it's one of the best boudin's I've had. Their pepper jack boudin is incredible.
I went to Poche's once, and their boudin and cracklin was not good. But it seems like I got the wrong thing, based on this thread.
