These states singling out high earners for taxes for whims should be a civil rights issue

San Francisco passed a tax on "transactions" of businesses, not even profit or sales but transactions, to fund homeless ngos.
Cali is proposing a tax on the "rich" to continue medical to illegals.
Colorado just passed one to pay for free meals in schools whose budget is overwhelmed by illegals.
While you worry about what might happen in NYC, IT IS happening in other places.
How far are we from just seizing the assets of white christians. They have already been targeted by the IRS, persecuted in schools and businesses, and denegrated in the msm for decades. Its the logical next step.

Wealth isn’t a protected class, and is not limited by any innate or immutable characteristics.
The laws are bad, but you’ll just see the rich leaving those places to more tax friendly locales, while still finding loopholes to stay wherever they want.

If you don't like the trajectory of your town or state's trajectory of politics, you should relocate.

I am pretty sure if there was any possible case there, progressive tax systems that increase effective rates as income goes up would have been challenged and struck down long ago.
The "wealthy" are not a legal class of citizens.

Imagine working a job to support a family and being told that you have to pay more tax to feed other people’s kids. Many of whom are in this country illegally. Woof.

Taxing a specific group of people to give money to another specific group of people is far far different than a progressive tax schedule.
And to say they are not a "protected" class.....the same was said about lgbtzrq, every class of them a few decades ago.

At a point, it would be considered a bill of attainder if it is written so narrowly to only encompass a specific group.
