The thing that gives me pause about these names is the fact that they are winning with really talented players, not necessarily process that is evident after their players depart. If you continue to get talented players, that's obviously moot.

Dillingham is 3-9 without Leavitt
Key is 11-10 without Haynes King/Jamal Haynes
Lea is 9-27 without Diego Pavia

These are gambles. Of course you get NIL money and build a roster, you assuage some of that worry.

Just some thoughts.

So you’re saying having good players helps you win? Interesting

What he's saying: find us a coach who can win with an average QB and that's a better bet than a coach who can win with a really good to exceptional qb.

The coach at Indiana is the only one who foots the bill

Jesus, the reading comprehension here. Also, the complete swing and miss when it comes to sarcasm.

I'm glad you asked, because, whether you know it or not, you actually don't know what I'm saying. I'm saying that it might be a risk to take a coach who has not shown that he has a proven process as it relates to the departure of season-specific pivotal players.

It’s why Kelly is out of work. Having a good QB is critical. Even with just above average QB play, LSU is probably a one loss team right now.

Did the HC get the QB?

I agree with this, and part of being an effective HC is bringing in the correct pieces.

You're seeing it real-time with almost all of the top 12 right now.

Stockton(UGA), Bachmeier(BYU), etc.

I'd say that Indiana is sort of the outlier here. Mendoza is good, but I think it's a bit of the opposite where Indiana is a top team so he's getting a lot of praise that might be better placed elsewhere. I think Cignetti is obnoxious, but he did it with the Ohio transfer QB last year and now the Cal transfer QB. It's impressive

This line of thinking is kind of dumb, IMO. None of these guys were "can't miss" prospects when they hit the portal. Leavitt threw 23 passes at michigan state. Haynes King was nothing short of mediocre at Texas A&M. Diego Pavia was good at NMSU, but that competition was terrible and there was a ton of doubt he would translate to the Power 4 level.

I think all 3 coaches deserve credit for getting these 3 to exceed expectations...not the other way around.

This is a really good point and good QB play hides so much

Why did you list Rutgers' QB as playing for Texas Tech.

Dillingham has told his players he is not leaving and will be at ASU in 2026. Story on On3 just posted.
