Warm Jacket

What’s everyone using for their warm outer jacket when it gets really cold and/or Midwest hunts? Looking for something for bow hunting. I had the Sitka Fanatic but I didn’t like how it fit.
With all the new technology and systems, just seeing what everyone else is liking.

I use the Pyre jacket and bibs from badlands for when it’s really cold. Might be a little think for bow hunting but it will keep you warm.

I know they aren’t the new fad but I love my Drake non Typical stand hunters jacket. I wear all the fancy base layers but for a 199$ jacket, it’s really really good. It has the pads in the back for free stand hunting, a hang hook and the shoulder straps to carry it but not wear it ….it also has a hole for a harness

Unfortunately you cant really be warm without being thick, which is a bitch for bow hunting. Theres no tech that overcomes the need to trap air volume.
JMO, skip the ultra expensive heavy big waterfowling style outter jackets. Wool base, fleece mid, down puffy, windproof shell, will get you through 0* hunts.

Nomad Cottonwood jacket, with the diagonal zipper. Got one on clearance for like $40. Can’t hardly wear it in MS it’s so hot.

Sitka duck oven keeps me.warm in great white north. Merino base layer is key too

I use the First Lite Phase and add a merino baselayer and down jacket underneath depending on how cold it is. Below about 20 I use the First Lite Solitude. I like the Phase/packable down jacket combo because I leave the jacket off until I'm set up and dont get sweaty walking in.

Sitka Fanatic
You might need one size larger. The fit is more for outdoor athletes than us biscuit eaters.
Puffies are awesome but a little bit loud. Fine for rifle hunting.

I don't bow hunt anymore so may not apply, but when cold here I wear a Sitka incinerator coat with a fahrenheit vest under.
The incinerator jacket is quiet but may be too bulky for bow hunting.

I find a thick jacket makes me sweat, which makes me cold. In Montana, I use lots of light layers including wool vests, puffy vests and a windproof outer layer and most importantly a buff plus wool hat to cover the head and neck.
