Is Jeff Lebby under consideration? Great offensive mind. Obviously, record not great at Mississippi State, but would have much better resources at LSU.

Both are probably too expensive for us. We just hired Verge down the hall. Frank would be a steal financially

I wouldn’t mind Lebby. Elite on the offensive side of the ball.

Too many better choices on the table that have the HC job figured out.

7-14 isn't getting it done.

Jeff is a great coach. Unfortunately many will see his record and immediately dismiss him. Not factoring in the atrocious situation Starkville was in after Mike leach passed away. They’ve looked very good with far subpar talent.

I like it, did deeper than just W-L record. If they upset one of their last three opponents will have gone from 2-10 to 7-5. They should’ve upset UTx.
Has always had great offenses.

Honest Opinion here:

I was a huge fan of the hire. I had him in most of my top 3-5 candidates I thought we should go after.

The offense is legit and is only hamstrung because we currently have Temu Johnny Manziel running it.

He is extremely loyal to assistants, even to a fault at times. His "QB coach" and TE coach are awful.

But he makes some absolutely bone-headed in game decisions. Worse than Kiffin. He badly needs a no-man. But from folks in the know around him, he isn't really open to that. Glad to see us get the win this weekend. I worry that his hard-headedness and over loyalty to bad coaches will end up costing him games in the long run. It already cost him 3 games this year.

If he can figure some of that stuff out (is easily fixable) I think he can be really good. I just don't think he's ready for an LSU job because he is still showing such a propensity for stupid decision making.

But LSU didn't pay several tens of millions of dollars to fire a guy who went 34-14 with an SEC championship appearance, 3 bowl wins, and a Heisman winner to turn around and hire a guy who's 7-14 in his second season as a head coach. It just is what it is.
I think Lebby will pan out eventually IF he gets an offensive coordinator.

He's still very much learning on the job, and many of decisions make that obvious. Though being a football coach isn't rocket science, he's not a very bright person, but if he could just focus on being the head coach and not that plus play calling, he might be able to circumvent many of his on the job training mistakes.

The question would be if LSU has the patience to watch him learn on the job. The obvious answer is no. He'd be a dead man walking, and when coaches know that (like with Florida, Auburn and ya'll) he and his agent would make sure to mitigate for that inevitability in his price point.

People thinking a coach will take a job because he's a cheap, quickly expendable, "throw away" option will find out that said coach might not be as cheap as they think if there's an almost certainty that he will get shitcanned like his predecessors.

Well, he'd fit right in here.

Lebby has done an incredble job since taking over for Zach Arnette who destroyed the program in one season. This is only Lebby's second year as head coach and MSU almost beat Tennessee, Florida and Texas.......all decided in the fourth quarter.
