Why are some of you actually getting your hopes up that Saban comes back as your coach?

Guys, you have a top 5 football program in the country. You will get a top tier coach but it’s not going to be a 74 year old retired tv personality. It’s like he’s Jesus Christ to some lsu fans. Very sad.

It’s all a planned distraction.
The powers that be know our fanbase would be obsessed with the possibility and drown out any chatter about the real candidate.

Let the man enjoy his retirement. He’s earned it.

No sane LSU fan thinks that.

We aren’t just having fun reminiscing

Most of us know Saban isnt coming back to LSU, the man is 74 years old with a ton of cash he dosent need the LSU headache.

It’s all just for fun man

I hope he stays retired .

I assure you, some of them are very serious and I am embarrassed for them.
To them, he’s the one that ran off with another man 20 years ago and now that they have broken up all they can think about is getting back together.

Sports are a form of entertainment. This is as well

Because he is. He will be the next coach at LSU. It’s a done deal. He’s already signed the contract.
Dude. No one actually believes this, it’s just people having fun and starting stupid arse threads.

Because our fanbase has never gotten over losing him to bama. It’s not about Saban it’s about one upping bama and it’s sad and embarrassing

They’re desperate. Kelly is easily the worst coach they’ve had in the last 25 years. All 3 of their previous coaches had won a championship. He didn’t.

Because we know he's at least contemplating it, but we also know he would never choose Arky!
FWIW, we know it's not gonna happen! It just gives us something write about on messages boards.

Honestly? These are the sad threads…let people have a good time. Sound like you need a Xanax. Relax.

Better question is why are the LSU coaching search threads infested with other team's fans? Your best bet is to hope and pray piggies don't wind up with Kelly.

I don't think it's going to happen, but I don't think it's that unreasonable.
As I get older I know more and more retired people. One thing they tell me is that they can't quit. They need something to do.
There's no part of me that thinks Saban is about to spend his days mulling about in a garden, taking 3 PM naps, and doing crossword puzzles. If he was going to do that, he would be doing that. Instead he's working a relatively tough TV job.
Have you seen the hours the Gameday folks put in? It's not like he's part-timing at Starbucks.
I would not be shocked if he came out and said that he felt he never excelled in the NIL era the way he did in the late 00s, early 10s, and wanted to make sure that he wasn't a fraud. Guys like that don't buy into what everyone else is saying. Gun to my head, I'd bet Saban hears the talk of what he's done and thinks he gets way too much praise. He likely thinks of his frick ups way more than his success.
So I don't think age has much to do with it here. I think his wife and daughter have a lot more to do with it. For that reason, I don't think he coaches again. But the age thing is silly to anyone who has been around successful people who retire.

The best part is outsiders taking it seriously.
