Remember Orgerons first game against Mizzou? We looked like a different team.

The reason at the time was that Les got so insane with his physical practices that the players were worn out by gametime.
Orgeron went to lighter prep and the players looked extremely fresh by gametime
Now BK barely had any physical practices and it showed, bc the team has looked soft AF.
Between Miles and Kelly, Orgeron found the best balance.

Orgeron’s teams were getting bullied around by dudes in “sissy blue” by the end of his tenure

People will disagree but I think the Covid offseason and the team revolting against him had a lot to do with that.
2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 all looked good physicality wise.

Yup. He lost chase, shelvin, and Vincent to covid.
Covid yr goes much differently if those 3 dont opt out.

A big reason for that was LSU getting to play a bad Mizzou team.
The hope is that this week looks like the 2021 Alabama game (except with a win). LSU ditched Orgeron's bad defensive approach and suddenly looked like a different team..largely shutting down an Alabama offense that had been rolling to that point (avg. 42 ppg in SEC play). If Max Johnson could have made even just one play late in that game LSU probably wins.
The players on that defense were there. It was bad coaching holding them back. IMO, the same applies here with LSU's offense. There's good players on that side of the ball. The overall approach/playcalling has been awful. If, with a new HC and OC LSU is willing to change what they have been doing, there is a very real chance for an upset.

The actual reason is because the schedule got easier and we also tried this thing called the forward pass.

That year had so many what ifs and what not. If Myles Brennan doesn’t get injured, he throws for 3500 yards in 10 games.
Chase was the only one that made sense opting out because he had reached his collegiate ceiling.

Yeah, agree. Shelvin would have been the best defender on that team, and Vincent would have aided a ton in a depleted / weak secondary.

Spin it however you want. Post 2019, Orgeron's coaching was a disaster and the man was an embarrassment to LSU.
He was on a post divorce, drug induced trip and I don't think he is ever coming back from that.

Pretty sure we broke an offensive record that night, maybe most yards in a game? I remember being at an event for my 20th high school reunion. The game was on every tv, but there was no sound, so I don’t remember the exact record because I didn’t hear it live.
Also think LF7 broke the single game rushing record that Alley Broussard set—both against Ole Miss. Pretty sure Guice later broke it again Thanksgiving night against A&M.
Regardless, I think it was more than just playing worse teams. There was definitely a boost in morale after Les left. And Ensminger and Danny Etling were better than they are remembered. Slinger doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the ‘19 offense. And Etling is probably a top 10 QB in LSU history. (In fairness, it’s a pretty atrocious history, certainly pre-Joe.)

Your boy Woodward didn't give him a lot of money to hire assistants even though Pelini was Woodwards hire. So we ended up with shitty assistants and O definitely needed great as coachs.

Just looked it up, we had 634 yards of total offense. 216 passing and 418 rushing. And LF7 didn’t even play. Guice had 163. Darrell Williams had 130. Brossette had 73 on just 5 carries. Chark had 26. Etling had 18. Even Lanard had 12. Slinger was in his fricking bag that night.
