One of the best ever in a Tiger uniform.

That was quite possibly the best defensive play in LSU baseball this century. Maybe ever.

have loved that guy since the first time I ever saw him play - he made a play at first that was nothing but pure magic.

Nobody ever said he couldnt play 1B in the minors/majors because of his defense, his defense was always elite at 1B.
The issue was his power at the plate was not there necessarily for a professional 1st baseman. He's hit 15 2B/3 3B/8 HR in over 400 PA this season at the AAA level which doesnt necessarily still translate into a MLB 1B. A team with enough power already at other positions could still value his defense enough over not enough pop and play 1B, but it will take the right team basically is all there.
At every minor league level he's played at basically including AAA this season (15 games in OF) he's seen more than a handful of games in the OF

MLB wants, traditionally, a 1B with a lot of power. He doesn't fit that mold. He's had an MLB glove since he got to LSU, we all know that.

Awesome, I knew he could make it as a first baseman on his glove skills alone.

For those that don’t follow, He’s doing really well thus far and I suspect he will have a shot to make the roster next season.
He started at first for their triple A team and hit .276 on the year. Their first base prospect Xavier Isaac whom they drafted in the first round the year prior, spent all last year at first for their double A team.
I’d imagine the Rays are going to end up trading one of these first baseman bc their mlb starter is pretty darn good as well.
Regardless of how this unfolds, Tre has done about as good as you could have hoped for to this point.

Yeah perfect fielding % on 440+ plays is good enough someone will call him up despite the trend at 1B

And he was at Boots on the Bayou Saturday night watching Chris Stapleton. Nice little weekend for Tre'.
