Pass this out

Nutraloaf

quote:

Nutraloaf, also known as meal loaf, prison loaf, disciplinary loaf, food loaf, lockup loaf, confinement loaf, seg loaf, grue or special management meal,[1] is food served in prisons in the United States, and formerly in Canada,[2] to inmates who have misbehaved, abused food, or inflicted harm upon themselves or others.[3] It is similar to meatloaf in texture but has a wider variety of ingredients. Prison loaf is usually bland, even unpleasant, but proponents argue that nutraloaf provides enough nutrition to keep prisoners healthy and helpfully can be served and eaten without utensils, which can be a liability in the hands of unruly prisoners.

I've always been a fan of government commodities. Get rid of Snap and have people pick up their basics every other week, quantities based on number of family members. Its more cost effective and can ensure funding goes toward nutrient dense, quantity foods.

I grew up on that shite. I remember going with my dad as a child to do the pickups at the bread place on Florida in Denham in the 90s.

The powdered milk sucked, but the cheese blocks were legit.

We really need to disincentivize living off the state. This would be a step in that direction for sure.

Or maybe we should just fund snap since a significant amount of perishable food is just going to get discarded now. Much more than usual.

Reminds me of those Datrex high calorie survival bars. I was given one from that warehouse in Kinder, and it’s palatable.

That’s the short term solution. I took OP to mean long term. We can phase in the solution.

I was also annoyed this summer when one of my rentals with a smart thermostat was auto set by the power company for a heat wave (I was there)

But maybe we need those for section 8 housing. Set at 74 year round.

SNAP isn't buying a lot of perishables... also, call your favorite democrat if you want SNAP funded- it isn't the Republicans holding it hostage. In fact, I do believe they tried a stand alone bill for funding it- didn't pass.

Or we could round up the leftists from their bunks at the camps and make them Soylent Green and feed them to the recipients. The West Coast goes Red and it's game over for the progressives. In the event of NYC having no more grocery stores after mamdani is elected they'll have a large population needing food... We could probably run out of progressives within a month or two as they literally eat their own. Think of the job openings in universities and Starbucks, social security is stabilized with the Boomer numbers dropping like rocks, crime goes down, no more Karens and so on.

I like where you are going with that. Seeing women buying crab legs at the market only encourages food stamps.

It was not the worst idea to feed the less fortunate but as the program has become rife with abuse something now has to be changed. If that means having a way for those who receive the aid to place online orders then so be it. If they cannot access the internet then go to the store and wait while the pickup teams pull the order. The world has changed and so can this program, by limiting the type and quantity it can be steered back to something which actually resembles the originally intended plan

Rice
Beans
Corn
Potato
Sugar
Flour
Butter
Milk
Cheese
Eggs
Fruit
Pork
Chicken
Catfish

All cheap ingredients and you can make some damn good meals out of that stuff... we've done it forever

However we have also gotten so used to having higher end foods so readily available that these ingredients, as a regulated and government benefit class of foods, may seem to some as offensive for some reason

Personally, I mainly buy foods on the outside ring of the supermarket (where the whole source of foods are located)... produce, protein, dairy... I only go in the aisles for rice, coffee, tea bags, grits and seasonings

Instead of:

Frozen waffles
Frozen pizza
Frozen any damn thing
Boxed dinners
Boxed any damn thing
Cokes
Cereal
Candy

And guess what, I can eat healthy and save a shite ton of money... especially if I purchase my fruits and veggies at the local Mexican market or produce stand

For instance, I can buy limes at $0.10/lime, small haas avocados 4/$2... but people don't want to live like that for some reason... maybe they're too used to lobster tails on the backs of other hard working people

Why haven’t Dems married their fake meat and SNAP yet?

Can we not feed these people with the magical healthy/sustainable shite?

Put poison in the snap foods so these people live less long therefore the drain on the economy is lessened…damn that’s heartless but it’s the only way

I'll take Meals on Wheels for CECOT prison inmates for $500, please Alex.

quote:

Meals at the CECOT prison facility in El Salvador are basic and consistent, primarily consisting of beans, rice, and plantains. No meat, chicken, or special menus are ever served. Inmates eat with their hands as utensils are forbidden for security reasons.

The typical daily menu is as follows:
Breakfast and Dinner: The same meal is served for both, usually a combination of beans, cheese or a mix of rice and beans, a plantain, and a cup of coffee or atole (a corn-based drink). Hard-boiled eggs are sometimes offered.

Lunch: This meal consists of rice, pasta, and a beverage.
The diet is described as minimal and deliberately lacking in variety or comfort, and is intended for convicted gang members with no intention of ever being released. The specific portion sizes and exact menu might vary slightly, but the core components remain consistent.

We recently saw many companies announce massive layoffs—Amazon being a notable example.

We are all aware of the terrible jobs report.

Add to this the future forecast we’ve received about more jobs being replaced by AI.

If the strategy for anyone struggling to find a job is to rely on government assistance, we could be heading toward a civilian versus corporate war.
