Did bad blood between Landry and our football program that resulted in Woodward getting fired, start with Omar The Tiger? Or does it go back farther than that

Landry is an idiot, and in retrospect it looks like Scott is an idiot, although maybe a bit more polished. it seems like usually idiots get on swimmingly or hate each others guts. I guess we got the latter.

I think it was Mascona that told the story that earlier in the year a huge Landry backer, Lee Mallet wanted Will Wade rehired at LSU and Landry tried to push it through and Woodward refused.

I am sure there will be many along here to argue the merits or problems with that but that was the story of SW and Landry butting heads way before this Kelly thing reared its ugly head.

Temu trump wanted girls bball to come out of locker room for anthem.. they always come out later.. threw wbball coach under the bus.. did it publicly

Wanted Mike in stadium to appease a political donor.. thought it would buy votes.. blew up in his face

Wanted wade .. buy political votes.. did not get his way..

Stormed off and hid on corner until he
Make another spectacle of himself.. accomplished it..

And he suffers napoleon and big brother university complexes..

I hate Landry and I think he is a character that should have been in Adam Sandler’s Waterboy movie. Woodward deserves to be fired for knowing or not knowing how lazy and unlikable Kelly was and still gave him that 10 year $95M guaranteed contract.

The rift goes way back to when Woody was involved in politics as a public relations guy for a firm that he had in Baton Rouge. Had to be circa 2000.
Not sure of details but things got twisted up with little Landry

Woody has always been a DIM shill. He goes way back with JBE, Carville, Collis Temple, Mary Olive Pierson, Fayards, Landrieus, etc

If thats your bag of tea, then youre likely on here demonizing Landry

Rift is rooted a lot in politics. Woodward and James Carville are close. JC loves LSU and has friends with very deep pockets. He wanted to see LSU step up the elite ladder both academically and athletically. He connected those money people with many at LSU, including SW. This was an end run around the ole boy Louisiana group. It was working and Landry and others like him hated it. This is Landry trying to bring LSU back down to his level. It is really a shame how much damage one idiot from SW Louisiana and do.

No Fat Woodward got fired because he tanked both Basketball and Football. If it took Landry stepping in to get him out then so be it but I have a feeling it wasn't just Landry that wanted this bum out

The Omar incident cast Landry as petty and puerile, but made no recommendation for dissolution of a cooperative and professional relationship with the AD. If Scott is a soulless socialist/communist that could prompt someone of limited capacity to conceive of the Omar stunt which was on all accounts misguided. The bottom line is that Scott was not performing in any way that was acceptable to anyone interested in the success of LSU athletics. I say this because football is the summum bonum of collegiate athletics and he failed the with contract for Brian Kelly. Even I knew this was Kelly’s last gig and that that deal would never last anywhere near ten years. It was Kelly’s retirement package. You can bet the rent money that more than a few boosters understood this, but were convinced that Kelly was a winner. Last year it was clear this program was never going anywhere with him at the helm and multiple influential people began to express severe dissatisfaction. Many knew neither were going to stay much longer. It was a matter of timing. The A&M game was a bridge too far for many only one of which was the much esteemed Mr. Landry. You may disagree with Landry’s clumsy handling of it, but who among you thought Kelly was bringing things along? He was an abject disaster and had to go immediately. Woodward’s fate was sealed when he signed Brian Kelly. Oh, in no universe will the acting AD pick the next HC.

An AD that glorified BLM and George Floyd, while giving in to PETA by not allowing a live mascot into the stadium, when almost all other colleges do, should tell you where he stood

Many conservative alumni and boosters have been unhappy with LSU direction the DEI the Woke professors the shootings on campus etc. Scott is a long time Dem who has made many enemies over the years. With a new Republican governor and changing of BOS changes were on the way. The debacle in football and men’s Basketball allowed the conservative donors to Lobby Landry and the board to remove Woodward the President and coach. LSU needed to clean house we can all debate if Landry was the best person to do this but don’t feel sorry for Woodward he isn’t an innocent political victim who “ only cared about LSU “

Woody had to go, and I’m not sure he was as smart as people say he was, he just had friends with money and connects. That being said, JL will be absolutely hated forever and never hold another political office in Louisiana if the new Prez, HC and AD flounder after making us a national spectacle from his office. He wanted the credit, he can have all of the credit, he just better hope whoever this new trio is, they completely knock it out of the park.

Up 10 spots in US News rankings in one year is pretty damn good. Check out admissions numbers and standards while you are at it.

I found his “ideals” objectionable to be sure. The moral underpinnings that anchored the West have been liquidated by a tiny group whose name cannot be uttered.
