I've said it before I think getting Kiffin is a long shot and very low probability. This is the one I want or a young up-and-coming offensive coordinator.

I would rather us go this direction too. I think Golesh and Silverfield would be my favorite two. Wouldn’t lose it over Sumrall either.

The system of hiring coaches is broken. Going after the biggest name out there is not fiscally smart, nor does it really ever work out.

Current HC Candidates:
1. USF Alex Golesh current salary $2.5M
2. UNT Eric Morris current salary $1.4M
3. Tulane Jon Sumrall current salary $3M

Save money on the HC, hire a high end staff and analysts.

Spend the majority of your NIL funds on OL/DL. That’s who wins championships.

Find a HC who runs a system that fits the strength of what makes LSU a phenomenal program. NFL WR room and tremendous defensive speed and talent.

Both Golesh and Morris would be great fits in BR, success is always a crapshoot, but those two would bring so much excitement to a Saturday night in Death Valley.

Aside from his current record this hear, what is it about Golesh that makes him a good hire?

There are several HC from smaller schools that should be strongly considered.

Golesh
Huff (USM)
Morris (UNT)
Traylor (UTSA)

From everything I have read his offenses are creative and his teams play tough physical football. That’s all I need to know in here.

Has experience in the SEC and helped facilitate the high powered Tennessee offense. Came into an abysmal USF session and turned them around in 1 year and building on it this year.

Ready for a head coach that is not the CEO model and can handle 1 side of the ball.

He has an intense personality and is a very hard worker.

tRant: BK was not a cultural fit.

Also tRant: Let’s hire a Russian that’s had 1/2 a good season!

South Florida was a combined 4-29 in the 3 seasons preceding Golesh lol.

He is 20-14 since. That is a brash turnaround.

Flavor of the week. Napier had a much better resume.

Memphis has a better coach, and beat Golesh last week!

Take a look at this

Guy has been coaching for over 20 years and is only 41.

So far he seems impressive for a guy his age

We’ll, if that’s how you measure Head Coach material, then you must think Willie Taggert is a can’t miss hire. :/

Seven out of eleven national championships in the CFP era have been won by coaches who were the biggest name out there when they were hired (Meyer at Ohio State, Saban at Alabama, Smart at Georgia, Harbaugh at Michigan). Kalen Deboer was the biggest name out there when he was hired. Lanning and Cristobal were massive names when they were hired.

Obviously there is more to a coach than their record, Taggert had a hot QB that made him look good.

G5 coaches will always be a gamble

No way go back and do your research and look at how many people have won at USF then failed when they got bigger jobs

And you’re on the hook for $53M to fire the guy. The governor came in and embarrassed the hell out of LSU for this specific reason.

But by all means, let’s bring up Saban (post Miami), Harbaugh (NFL), Kirby who took years to get to where he is. Lanning would’ve been the Cajuns coach had we not gone cheap, and Cristobal went to his Alma matter.
