All the names being thrown around like Kiffin or Lanning (or fricking Saban) are not happening. The athletic department is a mess, the AD that we hire is going to be unqualified and not attractive to a top name coach (not to mention governor dipshits involvement). I have a strong feeling we end up with a Sumrall type coach. A lot of you are setting yourselves up for disappointment.

Nah I don’t think so. If Saban turns down the huge offer Kiffin will get a huge one, and if for whatever reason Kiffin doesn’t come we would offer freeman a big contract.

I remember this board clowning A&M for hiring Elko. I think there are a number of coaches out there that could do well at LSU and not necessarily make huge headlines as the hire.

Some are making it out to be worse than it is. LSU is replacing an AD and the football coach. Ok? Why is this such a disaster to some of you?

not me. i''m optimistic. I think a coordinator is the way to go if Kiffin and Key say no.

interview them to see if they have the right stuff for the top job. We know what the right stuff is.

I’m starting to think you’re right. I’d love for it to be Kiffin but I’m prepared to accept a massively underwhelming hire that will be fired in three years.

We’re unlikely to get any of these. I agree with the OP it’s likely to be a smaller name.

2021 is the last time I remember big “names” changing jobs from name programs to other big programs

Brian Kelly-fail

Lincoln Riley- massive disappointment

Paying a massive contract to someone who has already achieved significant things produces laziness and apathy. There is no motivation to learn a new culture, landscape etc

The more I think about it, the more attractive I find giving Joe Brady a “prove it” contract with eye popping performance incentives.

I’m sure your life is one serious of disappointments. Find a nice, long pier and jump in.
