Though I agree with Greenwald that Venezuela isn’t a narco state, he displayed wholesale ignorance re: the reasons to overthrow their government. He says there that we shouldn’t choose their leaders for them, never mentioning the fact that Venezuelans aren’t allowed to choose their leaders either and play in fake elections.
Venezuela is a fricking humanitarian crisis. They’re not holding real elections, they don’t let their people have the choice of new leaders. Over a quarter of the country has fled, and most of them have inundated their Latin American neighbors, not the US. Hunger is prevalent. It’s been a sharp descent for them and it is a truly hopeless situation.
I’m anti war, but in these cases, I’m all about toppling a dictator and letting the people reclaim their country.
