What a great series.

HBO knocked it out of the park in the early 2000’s.

It’s truly a street crime classic.

Rewatched and finished it for the 2nd time a few months ago. Was even better than the first time. Talk about a perfect show.

Cutty and Prez are the minor characters that have a lot more reach than some others.

A man has got to have a code

God there’s so much amazing lines

Just an elite show. Sure 5 is rough but the other 4 seasons are as good as tv gets

There is a character that is comparable to the Cocksucker Chinaman from Deadwood.

It is interesting how my thoughts on characters changed watching it is a 40 year old vs a late teen/early 20’s.

Avon wasn’t a favorite character of mine 20 years ago but this go around, I really liked his character.

same here but not the characters, just the watchability of the show period.

First tried to watch it as a young 20s and slogged through S1 because it was just sooooo slloooooowwww. Tried again probably a few yeras later and made it all the wya through S2 and maybe an ep or two into S3 before bailin again, jsut didn' really capture me. Then I watched it again in my mid-30s and was captivated. It was much less "man when is something actually going to happen" and more being fascinated by just watching people go abotu their regular day to day jobs and how they connect the puzzle pieces little by little. Totally enthralling.

I've done 5 full watches going to back to original airing. Every rewatch is a totally different experience. I was early twenties when it originally aired so as I've changed over the years each rewatch offered new perspective. I just finished the 5th watch about 2 months ago and I honestly feel like this was the best watch.

I do a rewatch every few years and it still holds up. I got to meet one of the actors from the show right after in went off the air. I was in a Starbucks and I saw a guy who looked familiar and I realized it was the actor who played Detective Vernon Holley on the show. I went over and he was very appreciative of someone recognizing him and we talked about the show. He said he had to run out to his car, he had an autographed cast picture, and walked out. A few minutes went by and I figured he just split, he comes hustling back in and said he didn't have it, but asked for my address and three days later in showed up at my house. I still have it 17 years later.
