Most of you know who Ruffino is. Hes got some pretty decent connections and was on the SEC Unfiltered podcast yesterday with some info. (this is before Landry's presser and TV appearance)
This info comes from some money folks (boosters) who have influence in the athletic department. TIFWIW

Hot Board is:
Lane Train
Dan Lanning - understands there is a supposed massive buyout. let Oregon prove it exists
Marcus Freeman
Jon Sumrall - caveat is this is likely very unpalatable for Landry. bad optics to remove HC of Tulane and install at LSU when you want to win re-election and get votes out of New Orleans.

Timeline:
Nothing happens before Dec 20th
Money will not be a factor in who LSU hires. Boosters didn't pony up $50m buyout to cheap out on next coach.
Money people way more power than Woody.
Woody status unknown, may very well be out of job. Might just be reduced authority.
Will know more after new President selected on Nov 4.
Thinks Austin Thomas will have larger role

Also thinks ability to pull big name coach comes down to coach believing in alignment between Coach / AD / University. Landry popping off absolutely could have negative effect if, for example, Coach is democrat and thinks Landry would meddle in some way. Doesnt matter if that is true or not - perception is reality.

I've heard it from multiple people now. Tulane grads - lots of whom are lawyers - would be very unhappy if their HC would be poached to LSU.

I guess hot board equates to 'never gonna happen board."

Ruffino is a drama queen and doesn’t know shite.

His full time job is covering LSU sports and is farming for engagement.

I think its Lane Train and then nobody else. Sounds like they are really going to make him say no 50 times.

Tell the Tulane grads their coach is going to Aub or Kentucky then. Why do they care ?

Hope kenny Dillingham gets serious look. He’s young, hungry and has a personality that’d fit Baton Rouge like a glove. If they want a football equivalent to Jay Johnson he’s your guy

So out of four choices two of them are an automatic no chance in hell in Freeman and Lanning.

Kiffin would require an outrageous contract which every indication is we don’t want to pay. And Sumrall, the only realistic one of the bunch, is apparently a complete non starter for our primary decision maker.

Either Ruffino has no clue what he’s talking about or our hiring process has already descended into idiocy.

Sumrall being at Tulane is not an obstacle or hindrance. If they want him they will get him.

no, none of these people care enough about TulAne football… And they realize that Tulane is a stepping stone to bigger jobs… Always has been… I think this point is vastly exaggerated

Yea I can’t lie that big board sounds utterly ridiculous. Dan lanning is flat out a delusional target he already shut down any talk he’s leaving and will have an outrageos buyout he’s not leaving Oregon and freeman isn’t leaving notre dame. Why would our top 4 big board be two guys who are an automatic no ? Makes zero sense

I remember in 1980, after Bo Rein had died and right after Tulane throttled LSU in the dome ....like 24-13? The story that was rolling around BR at the time that the powers that be were going to offer Larry Smith a lot of money to shift AZ and come to BR

i think it's more likely LSU decision makers turn their nose up at hiring tulane's coach, similar to ull.

Not true. Our governor doesn't control the boosters. He's looking for political gain by turning the state against big contracts

This dumbass right here is a prima facie example of how a dumbass like Landry gets elected to governor.

Hey Schrodinger, the Governors race is a statewide race. A vote anywhere in the state for a candidate has the same value as anywhere else. If the R's in suburban NOLA don't turn out for Landry then he is a cooked goose in the election.....a gone pecan.

Landry dont want to pay.
Landry also ordered the board to fire Woody, and Woody is not fired.

Landry doesnt have as much power as he thinks he does. Once the president is selected, Landry is shut out and the big money boosters have the power in the athletic department.
He can't remove the board and new President immediately just because he doesnt like what they are doing with the coaching search. Even he knows he doesnt have that reach.
