I read DandyDon’s blog today about Saban’s response to his interest in the LSU job and…

I don’t know if Scott covered Saban’s answer correctly, and I haven’t seen it anywhere else to know; but I was surprised that Saban didn’t flat out say no. I’m not saying he’s interested or not but it seems like Saban left us to wonder. Personally, I don’t know that he’s the best choice or not but he would certainly fix things right for the next coach. And that may be the best thing for us right now.

If that were to come to fruition, it would have to be short term. Maybe a 3 year contract and he'd groom one of his coordinators as his successor. If the man did anything great other than recruiting, it was hiring his staff. His coaching tree is by far the most impressive.

I still think this is fantasy thinking though.

Zero % chance Saban is coming back to deal with NIL/transfers.

I dont know why so many lsu fans think Saban would go there. He is 74. He had everything he ever wanted at Bama. He had complete and utter control over everything. Now with the governor stepping all over the ad dick and the board not knowing that he governor tasked them with finding a coach, why in the world would he even consider it? He has more money than he could ever spend and making mint doing gameday and commercials to boot.

He stated multiple times his last year was especially hard on him becuase he had to take on more position coaching due to assistant coaches turning him down due to age. they didnt want to be possibly looking for new jobs if he retired. Saban said he was killing himself doing it because of his standard of coaching. Working 70+ hours a week and then players coming into his office in the offseason asking how much money and how much playing time instead of what they needed to do to get better really did it for him.

Honestly, im not so sure that his style of coaching jives with the current state of football. When players transfer on a dime and already getting paid millions it much harder to get them buy his hard nosed process.

Why are you hanging out on the LSU board if you’re not worried?

AD would be interesting but I don't think he wants to deal with the politics. I would want him to help with the coaching hire and analyze team needs

A bama fan calling another fan base delusional….

I don’t think you’ll find many here saying it’s happening, even less so now with the governor making things messy, Nick doesn’t play that shite

Most have said, if Nick were to have interest in a job, this would be the one but still not likely.

Only dummies think Saban would come back here or anywhere. No amount of money is getting him back on the sidelines in this era of NIL. The game today is the exact opposite of the way he coached in that everything is now slanted towards players first/selfishness/immediate gratification/$$. His "process" is delayed gratification/teamfirst/daily grind/detail oriented/self discipline. He would have a stroke trying to coach in this era and he knows it.

Not sure if he has any desire to be an AD. Doubtful because he's got much easier and more lucrative options as an analyst/speaker/advertising/etc

Nick knows and probably has communicated this to Lane… a lot of parents especially in-state talent want their kids as far away as possible from Landry… best believe other schools using his involvement and rhetoric against us…

I do not think Saban is coaching again anywhere, but on this point specifically he is the one guy who could come in the room and say "this isn't happening if I have to deal with you idiots meddling in the program" and they would do it.

That would be my take. Set things right then set up the next coach. His motivation is Saban holds LSU in a special place because he knows he set the course 20 years ago.

Bama fans are certainly dreading the possibility of Saban returning to LSU. They want his emphatic denial so badly that they are trolling our board hoping to find it.

He was trying to tell Lane to stay away from his ferrari in Baton Rouge. He’s kicking the tires on it and wants to drive it again.
