Being the AD at a place like LSU is a political minefield. Give the boosters what they want can be a huge positive or a huge, career ending negative.

Scott is a good AD overall, but he isn’t above criticism. He also isn’t bigger than LSU. LSU will be ok without him and the coach he hired in Brian Kelly. It will be fine.

Smart people have just as much trouble justifying Woodward's off the wall football contracts. Woodward is light years ahead in competence with regards to Aleva

Answer the following questions:
1. Did the AD spend more than it earned last year? If so why?
2. Did he hire a basketball coach that has drug down that program to one of the worst in the conference? What’s that salary commitment to McMahon?
3. Did he sign Jimbo Fisher at TAMU and Brian Kelly and did both cost their schools? And yes Fisher counts as he was only 3 years in if that monster 10 year deal. It was guaranteed and what was guaranteed was going to get paid regardless of the extension.
4 did he keep Verge A despite the fact he knowingly cost the university to pay out for Title IX violations because they are friends?
I was both a Woodward and Kelly supporter.

Not sticking up for Woodward but I am trying to understand how he gets criticized for Jimbos massive contract yet when Jimbo was on with Hester and Flynn he said that the current AD was responsible for the massive contract extension not Woodward. He is only responsible for one terrible contact and that's Brian Kelly.

He was signed in 2018 with a 10 year 77M. contract. He was given with an extension in 2021. He was fired in 2023. Even if he doesn’t get that extension, he only coached there 5 seasons. They were still on the hook for 35M. That money was guaranteed.

But, what was the original A&M contract that Woodward gave Jimbo when he first hired him? I remember at the time being shocked by how much it was, but can't remember the exact $$$ numbers now.
Jimbo was already on a downward trajectory in Tallahassee when Woodward hired him. That's why the high $$$$ contract shocked me when he was first hired
