Btw, even ardent LSU Basketball supporters didn't call for Woody firing due to Wade. Do a lot of us think it was a mistake and short-sighted? Yes. Did Woody give CoachMc year 4 after a 14-40 SEC record and use the middle of a 2-game winning "streak" last season to seed the "it's NIL, not Mc" narrative? Yes. Did that piss off a lot of fans? Yes. Was it a sign that he can't admit mistakes? Yes.
Did Landry have to intervene to fire Kelly? Yes.
Should Landry be this involved and say the things he's saying about LSU athletics? No.
Is it a serious clusterfrick right now? Absolutely Yes.

Woodward requested that Kelly be hired. The BOS have to actually approve. If they didn’t think the contract was fair then it’s on them to reject the hiring request. The market probably demanded his price. If not we would have offered less.
On paper Kelly was a good hire…it just didn’t work out. That happens all across every sport across America.

A national title winning coach everyone wanted and he was told to go get.
A top coach we stole from notre dame that the vast majority of the country and our fans thought was a good hire.
Sometimes coaches don’t work out. These were both seen as good, big time hires at the time.

so reactionary we examined his hiring mistakes at 2 different schools with ridiculous contracts and his extension of orgeron and his hiring of MM.
