Gonna be in Istanbul the 25th-29th. Need a great European city to go to the 29th-4th. Thinking of Vienna, Barcelona, Athens, Berlin. With a fun NYE.
Suggestions?

I have heard that of those cities, Berlin is the most festive for NYE and Barcelona is pretty good as well

Spain and Portugal would be great since they don't start the evening until after 10pm anyway.

Is there plenty do do in Berlin for 6 days? Wasn't most of that city destroyed in WW2? I'm wondering if there's many historical buildings left there to see?

Out of the ones you mentioned, I would put Barcelona first and Vienna second.
Paris puts on a big New Year’s Eve celebration.

Prague is pretty fun for New Year's. Street parties everywhere.

While I haven't been to Prague, Eastern European cities are safe enough to do this (I was in Wroclaw around about mid December.) They have proper town squares that people aren't afraid to be in, and are generally festive. It's not to say that Berlin, etc aren't safe, but the mood felt lighter and a bit more carefree.

My only caveat is I would avoid cities like Riga that have a ton of young Brits on holiday. It tends to attract the scammers. And, drunk Brit youths.

It doesn't have to be crazy party scene. Not gonna lie, I'm a little bougie. I like a black-tie event on NYE. Vienna has them, but they are sold out.

I would do Paris if you are travelling with women.

On that note did a new years in London and it was more hassle than it’s worth. LOTS of the Middle East traveled there so super crowded even by big city standards.

Ibiza seems like it would be hopping.

I really have no clue, not sure I’d go somewhere for 4 days just for new years though.

I've been to Italy 5 times. Feel like I haven't scratched the surface.

Of the places I've been also, Orvieto particularly stands out. Sienna maybe as well.
