UPDATE 10/28/2025: On October 28, 2025, Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis, Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan, and other officials held a press conference to address the Grammont Street Triple-Homicide that occurred last night.

Chief Zordan stated authorities have good leads on the suspect, but as of now, no one is in custody. According to Zordan, the suspect and the victims knew each other.

It is confirmed, along with the two adult victims, that a 2-year-old female was also murdered. Zordan urges the public not to take matters into their own hands.

Everyone know who did it, but cops don’t have enough evidence, so street justice is about to pop off.

Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan,

Married a girl I went to school with. He played football at ULM. His father was a Baptist preacher and had never seen him play because he refused to travel and miss church. I thought that was really sad.

Didn't click the link... do the authorities give a description of the suspect so the public can be aware, wary and call any sightings in?

Sad news about a 2yr old... poor little thing.

That street was hood 20 years ago. Not anywhere I would’ve gotten out of my car and walked around.

It’s literally a block from the police department. It’s where the cancer institute as well as the only pediatric neurologist in a 100 mile radius. Unfortunately it’s also where the Salvation Army is located as well as the bus depot.

wtf

It's literally the middle of downtown next to St Francis and where my church was growing up. When my dad was in the hospital a few years ago I parked my car on the side of the road for a week and walked across the bridge to the Cajun place on the river for lunch.

I spent my entire life in Monroe and the last place id describe as ghetto is that street.

Its funny how Monroe has changed so much in the last 20 years...Last time we were in town I was going to show my kids the part of town I spent most of my time in at my G-Grandmothers house..I remember sitting on her screened-in porch watching the chicken fights (apparently my GGrandfather had a reputation)..I remember the smell of those yellow magnolias and still get sentimental when they bloom down here..

But it was getting dark and i didn't want to die, so I just told them a story like that one. My Grands lived off Fort Miro, so i took them that way and complained about Christmas Card lane

I think it was around Carroll HS. In that hood between N18th and 165.

it's a damn shame what happened to South Grand.

I used to walk up and down that street and levee by myself at 8 years old going to holsum thrift shop, Mrs Wills antiques and the little corner market.

I wanted to show my wife my grandmother's old house and beautiful backyard a few years back and I was afraid to park the car in the middle of the day and walk over to the levee. We were NOT WELCOME

What kind of area is this in Monroe?

That's a good question because there are three (yes, three) Grammont Streets in Monroe.

One is a block(ish) south of Desiard going toward downtown. This is the most likely spot.

The other two were separated by Highway 165 by the university (looking at the map, it's likely all three were one at some point in the distant past). When I was in college in the late 80s/early 90s some friends and I rented a house on the corner of Columbia Avenue. Back then it was still safe, being a mix of elderly folks who had been there for decades and college students renting to be within walking/biking distance of NLU (now ULM). At that time, you didn't cross the railroad track.

Today? No idea.

Also, that story is written like absolute shite. No mention of what block of Grammont, no mention of names, suspects, etc. and then they capitalize "triple homicide" like it's a special holiday or something.

Ummmm As someone from Monroe, that area is a bit ghetto. During the day you could walk, but it would be far to walk across the river from there. Just bc there’s a church and the hospital does not mean it’s a good area ??
