so.. not motivated.

I'd take Saban on a four year deal at $5M a year with the agreement he brings on a HC in waiting.

Yeah I like my cake.

At the very least Saban owes LSU for going to a rival.

Won't happen. Part of the reason Saban retired is b/c assistant coaches wanted a commitment from him that he'd remain their boss and he couldn't guarantee that. Saban is toast.

“And I can say this based off of what I do know,” McShay said. “LSU is going to make an offer to Nick and Miss Terry that will force them to reconsider their justifiable stance of ‘at this point in our lives, working College GameDay, ESPN, ABC is where we where we belong.’

"Privately, there will be an offer made that will make Nick walk into the his home office with with Miss Terry, or get out in the lake and say, ‘Let’s at least talk about this for a minute.’

I'm 99% sure he was/is/will be the first call.

I heard that months ago though, so who knows

The man is 74 years old, some of the names coming up are less than half his age. He is done.

Saban has had 2 years to recharge his batteries and get a handle on how he would handle NIL. I presume he would have a GM of the portal and of recruiting in general that he trusts to take a lot of that load off his plate.

He's known for rehabbing folks - hell, maybe Orgeron would be a logical hire for that role.

I think the odds of Saban returning to coach LSU are significantly higher than most people think. I'd peg it at 25%.

Why would we as fans care about money?

Saban would cost $15 to $20MM per year and we would gladly pay it.

I have little interest in Saban coming back as anything other than a consultant, which he's still getting paid by Bama to do.

He's acknowledged that the game today doesn't jive with him anymore now that players are essentially professional athletes.

Saban came back from the Dolphins fiasco to become the GOAT in college football. It’d be a shame for him to ruin his legacy in the new world. Maybe LSU is just looking for advice from him.

He had been working 70+ hours a week for 20 years at Bama.

Then NIL comes out of nowhere (after COVID, mind you) and drained his battery at both ends.

Now that he's recharged a bit and only been working 30 hour weeks, he's had time to observe NIL, develop a gameplan for handling it, and his itch to coach has returned.

This was said almost 2 years ago on the heels of COVID and NIL and him deciding to retire.

At most a 3 year contract. He’s too old for longer than that.
