He is correct. throwing more money at the problem will not fix the problem, only delay and encourage the problem. taking fiscal responsibility away from the city and installing a fiscal administrator is the correct answer....

John Fleming, one of the conservative challengers to Bill Cassidy for 2026, is the current State Treasurer and chairs the Bond Commission.

Julie Emerson, who officially declared yesterday her intention to also run for Cassidy's Senate seat, is one of those Republican Legislators who serves on the Bond Commission.

$100 said Gov. Landry is coming out with this now mostly, if not solely, to have a wedge issue for social/cultural conservatives in the race. Emerson is his candidate, she will absolutely vote NO. If Fleming votes YES, or even if he just can't even stop the majority of the commission from voting YES, Landry camp will use it against him.

See the 24 months prior to the 2023 LA Gov Election with Landry suddenly initiating childish spats with then-State Treasurer John Schroder, even trying to take credit for stuff Schroder had every intention of his office implementing before Landry tweetered about the subject.

None of the above is an attempt to promote, or negete, any merits of the loan. Just stating we've seen this movie before from the Governor.

Helena Moreno takes over in January as Mayor, correct?

Wonder if there would be a reconsideration of this request after Cantrell is gone.

More like some “donors” paid it off for her after she assured them she would get them some no-bid contracts and do-nothing jobs.

I read the other day that one of the first things Helena Moreno saw when she started to transition into the office was how much deadweight Latoya had hired into City Hall. Does anyone think she didn’t make money off of those hires?

ETA: What Latoya really needs is a Roto-Rooter, in-depth IRS audit. I remember when she claimed she paid the city back for all of her “unethical“ first class flights and lodging, The check was written from Liberty Bank with the memo stating “loan." I’d like to see all the money going into and out of Latoya‘s accounts as well as her “donors.“
