The Rant wanted his head as much or more than Sloan’s.
It appears he had a back channel to Scott W.
Is this a good thing?
Any insight?

30-day transfer portal window would be part of the reason

I would argue the OL was worse than the play calling by Sloan. D lines were stealing our lunch every….single….play

My only assumption is that his preference was to play a completely different line up and Kelly has been the one holding some changes on the OL from happening.

Yea Davis was a holdover from Orgeron s staff where he did poorly and his olines have been even worse under Kelly. Supposedly Woodward balked when Kelly said he wanted to fire him. Arguably he has been worse than Sloan and for a much longer period!

You have to keep a staff to finish the season. It’s not complicated.

It's probably easier to find someone on staff to call plays then to teach the OL how to block in the middle of the season.

No one could be successful calling plays with this OL. Davis recruited them and had time to develop them. He failed, but he keeps his job….
Let’s let the guy who didn’t want Davis gone decide who our next coach is………

This tracks a bit..buddy of mine .. NOLA Native...had a son transfer in and was on 2 deep depth chart and started beating out #1...goes to practice and finds himself #4 and Kelly wouldnt give an answer and eventually he quit

My best guess is he has someone important kidnapped. That guy is a joke! How in the world can OL be in the program for years and NEVER improve. The only good OL LSU ever has are phenoms from HS like Campbell or transfers like Moore the C trained at Virginia Tech.

The answer is because the coach who would have taken over for him is going to cash plays instead.

I have a feeling that Woodward wants to do right by him and not fire him during the season. Let the process play out. It’s very unlikely the new coach will retain him. Also, it could very well be that BK was hindering his coaching by not letting him make personnel decisions. This is speculation on my part, of course.

You can't fire the whole staff mid-season. You need dudes to run practice and drills. Also, there is recruiting going on.

If the oline is bad and needs help you can change your play calling to do that. sloan didn’t.
