I have a friend that panicked in April and cashed out his 401k when Dow was at 36.

He claimed he was going to build a cabin with the money but settled for a used side by side since he lost his shirt.

I told him to not to panic. But he wouldn’t listen.

Market has had 13 record closes since Liberation Day with the 14th certain to happen today. He could have had an entire lodge had he heeded sage advice.

Please don’t be a panican like my friend.

Everything is at or near record high - stock market, crypto, gold, silver, real estate

He wants the Heart of America, -aka the east wing- to be rebuilt.

Your friend could have built 2 cabins if he hadn’t sold his stake. Such a sad story.

Used side by side? Not much of a 401k?

I certainly didn’t sell. But I’ve had a “dry powder” stash sitting here wasted except for high-yield savings interest for many months. Soft.

Just prior to the Covid crash, I moved 80% of everything in my 401k and IRA portfolios to safe treasury funds and parked it until I felt safer about the economy. It worked for me.

Never ever ever ever empty out a brokerage account. Never.

If you're invested properly, you can take out 8% every year for the rest of your life and it will still outgrow itself.

Might say Dow is up 11k since it dropped to 36 a few days after Liberation Day.

With Trump in office there was a good chance it was going to go straight up. No clue why he got out but he left a lot on the table.

I sometimes think of the idiots (and there were a lot of them) that cashed out because Trump is bad. The amount of wealth that has been made since April is amazing.
