It’s gotta be someone that can come in and stop the bleeding right away like an Urban Meyer, Kiffin, or another slam dunk hire. That’s the only way to instill faith in the program again.

No it doesn’t and this mentality is big mistake.

It might be big name but it shouldn’t HAVE to be.

I mean we just fired a BIG NAME coach

Whoever is in charge of the hiring process needs to find a coach not just a name.

In the NFL, sure. In college, he could still be great

What’s your definition of a big name? The GA Tech coach? The SMU coach?

Most of the best programs in the country right now are run by guys who were promoted as coordinators or head coaches of smaller schools.

Smart/Kiffin/Elko/Cignetti/Lanning/Day/Freeman/Lea/Key/Heupel.

Literally all of those guys were coordinators or coaching at smaller schools.

Where the hell is the narrative coming from that we have to hire this huge big name established coach, other than cowardice and/or lack of imagination? It has just a big a fail rate as any other hire, but costs way more money.

Kelly was the winningest coach in CFB. How can a hire be any bigger than that?

NO. Ive had to spend a bunch of time in Atlanta recently for work. The hotel has local TV and Ive been seeing the Ga Tech coach a good bit. That dude is a sure snuff FOOTBALL COACH. Motivator, WINNER. Id take him any day. He's inspiring.

Nick Saban, Michigan State
Les Miles, Oklahoma State

The two best hires and the best 17 years of LSU football in program history.
