There's a hell of a lot more to the job than hiring the football coach, which I'm sure Saban could do just fine. If he's not in the mood to deal with coaching in the modern CFB landscape, he sure as hell isn't up to dealing with the bureaucratic shenanigans that comes with being an AD.

Our AD makes less than 2 million a year. Saban probably makes 10 times that without the headaches. Why would Saban come to LSU? BR is a hell hole compared to his lake home.

Why would he want to manage all of the revenue sharing/NIL stuff for the entire athletic department? Isn’t that stuff (and the entitled attitude it creates) part of the reason that he decided to stop coaching?

If I'm an A list coach the last thing I want is to work for Saban. Rightly or not, the perception would be that Saban is really in charge.
