How did LSU get in the state it’s in currently?

Still no president.
Admission standards lowered.
Student housing shortage and below standards.
Not enough parking.
Shootings on campus.
Football and men’s basketball in the crapper.
What else am I missing?

A partridge in a pear tree.

Same could be said about society in general. I'm not answering and chancing a ban.

I'm willing to go along with blaming Brian Kelly for all of it if ya'll want to.

I feel like many colleges are on the brink of a bubble burst. Look at UL, UNO, and others.
Too much bloat with exponentially rising tuition, often subsidized by states.

I'm actually surprised this one wasn't / isn't more common.

It's happening across all aspects of society at all levels and it's due to pushing inclusivity at the expense of competency. When merit doesn't matter as much as it should, the meritorious stop trying so hard. Standards get lowered even more and the cycle just snowballs.

It's a microcosm of the state of Louisiana.

Literally everyone of the things you mentioned were true when I graduated from LSU….that was in 1995….
I went on to have a damn fine career and life. Still have season tickets to football games. Honestly, things are not that bad, man. We simply lost a football game!

The athletics situation and general state of the campus are two totally seperate issues. The football and men’s basketball teams have coaching issue, but the coaches don’t have anything to do with admission standards.
The shortest answer I can come up with is F.King started a decline by relaxing admission standards. JBE appointed William Tate who had no desire to strengthen the standards. Tate stayed out of athletics and allowed Woodward to do as he pleased with contracts. When Landry was elected, he and Tate obviously did not see eye to eye and Tate left.
I’m going to bet it will be a big target of the next LSU president considering Landry is appointing that person.

LSU is a reflection of the people that inhabit the state.

Give Jay Johnson the President position and the HC job for football while still being the HC of baseball and all will be solved. LSU would be thriving again
