Texas A&M is paying Jimbo Fisher $7.2 million per year through 2031. A program may be able to leverage this to their own advantage.

Now, I get the apprehension about Jimbo. Things did not go great at A&M, but for those teams that have already moved on from the HC or are looking to - why not use him effectively as an interim? He’s a good culture fit for any team in the South, he’s going to recruit well, he’s great at PR. For him, he gets a shot at redeeming himself before moving on to his final spot.

What’s the worst that could happen? You get a few free years of good recruiting and mediocre football while you build up your war chest, pay off your existing coach and have an NIL stockpile, then bring in some young up and comer to move forward with long term.

Because optics matter and the optics on LSU hiring Jimbo Fisher in the year 2025 are about as terrible as can be.

Doesn’t have to be LSU, but not sure the optics would be worse than keeping BK.

Why?

I was pretty big on LSU getting Jimbo back when it looked like Les might get the ax in 2015, and still somewhat when we hired O.

What went bad at aTm for him?

I wouldn’t mind it. Maybe Jimbo would agree to do some different things offensively

He was a stubborn SOB who never adapted to modern college football and didnt get that you needed to dumb things down for college kids and needed to focus more on recruiting dynamic playmakers who simply need to get the ball in space versus putting a billion different option routes on the shoulder of the receivers and QB

Didn't help that the same thing that kills many a coach happened in replacing competent assistants with ones that were shite

Not a coincidence that the program went to absolute shite once Elko left

Let's bring back the toss dive while we're at it

Hell no, bring in a young, hungry, arrogant OC who wants to make a name for himself

Oh, and bring in a good QB while we're at it

I’m one of the few who would give jimbo shot here. His failure at Tamu in a way was seemed to have a a lot of bad luck involved, never could land a competent qb for whatever reason, which wouldn’t be a problem here, especially with the portal and NIL.Tamu and Texas are are not was job and have more bullshite to deal with than LSU, that’s evident by the lack of success when in reality they should have more championships just cause of shear size, the state of Texas, and money.People forget how good his offenses were at FSU cause it’s over shadowed by god lack of success at Tamu and big azz contract.College coach’s are a lot like NFL quarterbacks in a way, sometimes it depends where your at and who drafted ya. I just feel like he’d have a lot of success over here

I actually like this idea. High upside considering how funny it would be if he succeeded here after failing at A&M. Couldn’t be worse than BK if he fails.

Because a big time program needs to be incentivized to give him a chance to salvage his reputation and he doesn’t need the paycheck because he’s already getting one.

Just a reminder that Jimbo recruited and had available on the team Marcel Reed (8-0 at A&M), Haynes King (8-0 at GT) and Conner Weigman (7-1 at UofH).

He had talent, but you needed a doctorate in west coastology to run it along with all of the other players being on the same page in their thesis.

Thanks to Scott Woodward, he's getting paid no matter what he does - coach or not coach.
