Florida Robot Rabbits vs. Pythons

The absurd thing is that the state was using real live rabbits in snake proof cages to lure the pythons out. Live rabbits have the right heat, smells and sounds of prey and the pythons were congregating around the cages. However, the animal rights set said it was too cruel to the poor bunnies thus the far less effective and expensive robot rabbits.

I used to raise rabbits and made good money selling them to folks who owned snakes.

Lol.
I suspect that the wild life and conservation services have attracted more than their share of PETA types. Otherwise, far more effective methods would be done.

Use drones with thermals to find and eliminate them.

It's possible, but not easy to do so as reptiles are cold- blooded, i.e. they generally do not have a different thermal signature than their surroundings. About the only way they can be spotted thermally is if they have been basking in the sun and move to a cooler area.
