Arkansas Hot Board 11/06 Update

11/06 Part 2: False alarm, it does not appear a new hire announcement is imminent.
11/06: Rumblings from the depths of an insider discord indicate the news of a hire may be imminent. I’m thinking this must mean it’s Franklin or Gruden.
11/04 Update: Lashlee and Petrino are off the board, and we have to mention Gundy somewhere here as he is reportedly interested.
Possibly Realistically Possible Candidates:
1. Joey McGuire (Texas Tech HC)
2, Alex Golesh (USF HC)
3. Jon Sumrall (Tulane HC)
4. Ryan Silverfield (Memphis HC)
Wildcards:
1. James Franklin (fired from PSU)
2. PJ Fleck (Minn HC)
3. John Gruden
4. Matt Campbell (ISU)
5. Gus Malzahn (FSU OC)
Do What Now:
1. Mike Gundy (fired from OSU - reportedly interested)
Off The Board:
Rhett Lashlee (SMU HC - signed extension)
Bobby Petrino (too many losses as interim - officials have it out for him too)

That would be a shocking pull to me

This isn’t a definite Patrino hire?

Probably a good fit. He’d consistently put a competitive team on the field which is about all that can be asked of a coach at Arkansas. His teams would be a headache for the rest of the SEC.

I don’t think this is realistic. Texas Tech has an insane amount of money and they’re spending. Much easier path to CFP too.

Joey McGuire has basically an unlimited NIL budget. Why would he leave Texas Tech to go to Arkansas?
Texas Tech will be in the playoffs and have an easier path to the Title than he ever would at Arkansas.

not a chance McGuire leaves Tech. That's the best B12 job right now.
First call is Lashlee, I think he stays at SMU. Afterwards, you can grab Golesh/Silverfield type up and comer or go wild-card with Gruden. Fleck would be a bad fit, Sumrall/Campbell will get a better offer, no chance in hell you get on the Gus Bus

Billionaires at both schools won’t let these guys leave

I mean we have bigger Billionaires and Rhett is an Arkansas alum.
With that said I don’t want him.

No Petrino lost his chances yesterday.

Yeah but your billionaires care more about basketball than football

That’s not true at all. We have a top 15 paid roster in football right now.
I’ve said from the start though, don’t be shocked if it’s Gruden. He has backing from a significant money guy who’s willing to put up the money.

From what I hear Petrino is not a wild card. He would be in the top 3 possibilities.

McGuire was born in Texarkana, Texas (just across the state line from Arkansas).
• His family held season tickets for the Razorbacks at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
• He has publicly said that he grew up rooting for the Razorbacks, that “the first football I can remember is that Razorback,” and that he even owns one of the “hard plastic Hog hats.”
• His mother’s side of the family is from Arkansas, and his uncle competed in track for the Razorbacks’ program.

Lashlee is going to be your next coach.
