I can see some truth to that with Lincoln. During the Civil War he didn't stop fighting the Native Americans out west. Plus after the Civil War he wanted to send the blacks back to Africa.

Lincoln was military dictator, for good or evil. Slavery was an immoral institution but the way it was ended and the disbursement of the slaves effectively destroyed what America was.
