Political Spam (is there anything that can be done about this?)

Seems like some legislation to stop this would be pretty bi-partisan (at least among voters) if there was something that could be done about this.

I’m not some big donor. But my email and phone is constantly spammed all day every day with this stuff. There is no amount of unsubscribing or blocking that I seem to be able to do to stop it. Does anyone else have this issue? Or is there a simple fix to this?

Last i heard all political ads and the like have been granted a blanket exemption from all of the spam/telemarketing type nuisance laws... can't image why the people writing laws would exempt themselves.......

It's gotten so bad that whitelisting seemed to be the only recourse, doesn't stop the BS, but it stops it from bothering me.

I think that everyone has this problem.

I simply wrote a series of Outlook scripts which send anything remotely political from unknown sources directly to the deepest pit of email Hell without bothering me first.

When something slips through, I revise the scripts.

Unfortunately, some valid fundraising emails do get the axe in the process, but that is a result which I am willing to accept to rid myself of all the unsolicited political nonsense.

I haven't gotten any spam dealing with politics. But I get 10 calls a day for 2 years = over 7,000 calls and all of them are offering loan plans to get me out of debt. I haven't had debt since paying off the house 30 years ago.

Once I changed my affiliation to an Independent, the ads stopped. What a wonderful life.

I’ve occasionally gotten texts from Gavin Newsome’s organization. No idea why. I’ve never voted for a Dem and I live in the southeast.

Each time, I respond with “I don’t vote for marxists”, then I select Delete and report as junk.

I 100% believe when you unsubscribe you are telling them that the email is a good (active) email address that someone uses. And they then sell your email address to other sites.

I usually have outlook write a rule to move any email from that domain to my delete or spam folder.

I’ve found the best thing to do is block the caller. It takes time but after a month of diligently blocking spam numbers the text and calls drop significantly. I’ve been doing it about 2 months and the calls and text have dropped to two or three a day. They were 20-30 a day before I started blocking.

Delete and report as junk doesn’t keep them from spamming you from the same number again in the future. You need to block the number.

They use many different numbers so it takes a lot of time to eventually block enough of them to see a difference in the spam volume.

Update your voter registration and take out your email and phone number if you can . They normally get your info from the supervisor of elections . This is how we got voter info to send text when I helped with a local campaign.

I donated to a campaign in 2016... email inbox has been trashed ever since, also get plenty of polispam texts in season.

I haven't figured out a solution... but I regret with every fiber of my being having donated to a politician and will NEVER do so again.

I just unloaded on Winsome's campaign. I told them I wouldnt have given her a nickel if I knew I was going to get a hundred texts and emails in the next 4 days. They must have 10,000 different cell numbers or they are spoofing them.

I have blocked at least 20 different numbers in the past two days.
