BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The LSU Presidential Search Committee revealed its list of five candidates who presently appear to have the most support to become the university’s next president during a meeting on campus Thursday afternoon.
The rankings were based on the level of committee support and qualifications each candidate has, the search committee said.

Current Interim President Matt Lee
Julius Fridriksson, Ph.D. – VP of Research, University of S.C.
Robert Robbins, M.D. – Former President, University of Arizona
Wade Rousse, Ph.D. – President, McNeese State University

You'd be surprised to learn just how hard of a push there was by some with influence at the capitol to do just that this past spring. In fact, some might say that push not succeeding may be some of the reason why there is a search for a new president to begin with.

Here are examples of individuals currently holding this or similar positions at various institutions, many of whom hold a Ph.D.:
Troy Blanchard (Ph.D.): Interim Executive Vice President & Provost at Louisiana State University (LSU), serving as the chief academic officer for the LSU system.
Dr. Luria Young (Ph.D.): Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Southern University and A&M College.
