And that’s because of the buyout. If that is the case;
1) What happens to recruiting this year? Anyone that follows sports knows Kelly is on hot seat. If they keep him, recruiting will struggle big time.

2) if they keep him he is going to lose a number of players. They all know he’s on the hot seat….why stay?

3) He’s going to have to get a QB. Again, who will want to come?

I realize money is money and it’s a lot to come up but unless things improve quick, keeping Kelly is going to do serious damage in next couple of years to program.

It’s substantially easier to keep recruits now. You may have heard about money

Not that easy if the people funding NIL don’t like the product they are paying for and elect to cut donations or quit all together.

None of that matters. If you don't have $60 million to buy out Kelly and his current staff, and then another $70 million to hire a new head coach and staff...

It not going to happen. So quit asking.

Definitely will be something they have to deal with.

However, since guys can transfer without sitting, not as big of a deal as it used to be.

Should they fire him like you wanted to do to Jay Johnson?

Correct but it’s going to take a group effort either way. Just because one or two guys threaten to pull their NIL money, that doesn’t mean much if they don’t have several other people willing to pay the buyout, hire new staff, and pay the players. Also there are simply people that will never pull their money because they never want to see down and will do anything to help prevent it.

All players are basically on 1-year deals now. The potential of a coach being fired during the player's time at the school isn't a big deal because the player is a free agent and can easily go elsewhere if the coach is dismissed. He's not worried about anything else beyond just next season. Ironically, it's Kelly's failure to accept this reality that played a role in putting him in this situation. The primary reason it was a priority to keep Sloan and, eventually, promote him to OC, was to help ensure LSU signed Bryce Underwood. Yet, despite 2-3 years of recruiting him, building a relationship, him being committed to LSU, a better financial offer came in late from another school and he accepted the offer.

That's the big leverage the donors have to force a change. The HC is reliant upon them now more than ever for roster building. If those funds dry up, the coach is largely powerless to recruit.

Here's the thing.... it may not take the $53 million that is thrown out there. Kelly has a mitigation clause. If he got a job as a coach or analyst or tv commentator, that compensation would subtract out what LSU would pay him over time.

it's not all up front and we may not have to pay all of it.

You are either dumb or a smartass. I’m guessing the latter.

BK has been at LSU almost 4 years. He hasn’t come close to showing the promise Johnson has. But I think you know that. You are a computer giant who sits behind a keyboard where you are safe and act big & bad.

Would you want to commit to play for a coach who could be fired at any time? I wouldn't. Those guys want stability and a winning tradition, not lackluster coaches with crap offenses.

1) Doesn’t matter, he’s not going anywhere any time soon

2) I don’t know if players care as much as you think they do. They get paid no matter what, LSU puts players in the NFL, with or without BK, period. If they get more money elsewhere they’re gone anyway.

Don't get mad at him because you made stupid statements during the baseball season. Is Kelly in way over his head, too?

But to your credit, you have publicly in this forum admitted to being wrong, so you also deserve credit for that.

Let me ask you this If YOU WERE BRIAN KELLY - Your employer has publicaly said that you are not good at your job and wants to fire you. You are guaranteed $50 million on your contract. Are you going to NOT MAKE THEM PAY YOU THE FULL AMOUNT OF WHAT YOU ARE OWED JUST BECAUSE SOME ranter SAYS YOU SHOULD GIVE LSU A BREAK?

As for me, you fire me you will pay me!

We don't have $50 million so BK isn't going anywhere.

Lame duck coach or not, LSU is still a top destination for recruits and transfers for so many reasons.
