RUSTON, La. (KSLA) - Ruston will hold the official groundbreaking for Louisiana’s first Buc-ee’s on Friday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at I-20 and Tarbutton Road, the site of the massive new development. The new Buc-ee’s is expected to feature more than 120 gas pumps and bring over 250 full-time, high-paying jobs to north Louisiana.

When are they building the one in Lafayette so I’m forced to stop in Baytown and Lafayette on the drive to BR?

It's under construction already but I think they pushed the opening date back to some time in 2028 now.

I think it was initially expected to be completed late 2026.
Delays were caused by "weather and design issues."
No wonder Bucees has avoided Louisiana up to this point.

The restroom facilities in Bastrop (TX) and Madisonville (TX) are beginning to get dicey. Smells of farts and pee in there. Hand towel dispensers are down constantly. Less deer corn, more janitorial duties, from where I sit. How much beef is this place going through on a weekly basis, franchise-wide? Got to be a lot of bad beef.

High-paying jobs?
A buccees manager will be a top 10% earner in Ruston at minimum

Have you seen what they pay?

You might want to keep driving, it will give you something else to whine about.

They ended up having to do a lot more dirt work than originally anticipated at the Lafayette location due to elevation and moisture content of the site.
It also was a very wet spring and early summer in Lafayette which prevented the necessary dirt work and compaction. They restarted dirt work there about a month ago
That was for the current delay. The previous reason they skipped over Louisiana in years past was 100% political/ corruption related

Ruston and Lafayette are having a battle of cultures, North vs South, Coonass vs Redneck, Hill Toppers vs Swamp Donkeys.
Who's Bucees will open first

This is without a doubt, the greatest, biggest thing to ever happen in N LA and its not even close.

The race is on. Who completes first? LFT or Ruston?

I just don't get the location.
Why not near I-20/I-49 intersection in West Shrevep... Ohh. Now I get it.

I stopped off at Buc-ee's Sevierville, TN this past week. It too, had 120 pumps and the gas was $2.25ish. Car wash as well. The place was loaded with goobers out of the hills and they were shoulder to shoulder in the place. Too many people.
Although I didn't see it, there was a sign that said there was a 200 seat buffet somewhere in the massive place. A new thing we found, was a fried chicken strip box (3 pieces) with some of the best battered french fries I've had.
I'm not so sure Ruston is prepared for the traffic if it's anything like the Buc-ee's Sevierville.
Again, too many people for my preferences.
