That Jena - Bunkie game could get ugly. Ive been told most of the team has the flu and some of the coaches do as well.

Crazy that District 2 has 4 teams in the top 9 of Power Rankings.

Reclassification started this week with the release of enrollment numbers... schools have until Tuesday, November 4th at noon to declare whether they're playing up (to 5A only), and the first draft of new districts will come out on Thursday, November 6th after the first reclassification meeting.
Schools give their feedback in writing, and the second meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 17th. Then if a school wants to appeal in person, the final meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd

Interesting new rule was voted in this year that has some teams up in arms. Apparently there was a vote on a proposal that if a team played a less than 5A schedule, they wouldn’t be forced to play division 1 in the playoffs. That passed as it should have. It makes sense. What has people up in arms is attached to that proposal was a vaguely worded statement about teams who choose to play up in class. The rule now is if you want to play up in class, 5A is your only option. You can’t be 2A in enrollment and play in 4A, you can be 2A and if you choose to play up, you go all the way to 5A. Otherwise you have to play in your enrollment class. It was all over sports radio here this morning and apparently most of the principals who voted had no idea this rule was in there.

There are quite a few schools in NWLA who play up to 4A now. Loyola College Prep is one of them. Next year, if they want to play up, it’ll have to be in 5A. If not, they go back to 3A where their closest district game will be 50 miles away (North Webster) and most of their district over 100 miles away in Monroe. And this is for all sports, not just football.

How good is SCC this year

Are these numbers just 9-12 for each school? Or if the school has 6-12, do they count the Jr high numbers as part of enrollment?

Just 9-12… those C schools with impossibly low enrollments have more grades on their campuses

Good question
Also, do the numbers take into account whether or not the school is all boy or not? I seem to remember way back in the day, if it was an all boy school or all girl school (like Jesuit), they’d just double the enrollment number. Is that correct or am I misremembering?

Theyd beat ESJ, HLB, and Central Lafourche from that district…

Yes, single gender schools are doubled

And Thibodaux.
They also just beat Terrebonne a few weeks back.

That rule is so dumb…Loyola for example has everything to do with travel and nothing to do with competition…. The travel cost will be absorbed by them but some of the others in the new district may not be so happy
Posted on 10/22/25 at 1:33 pm to TROLA
I heard Karr next year won’t be playing for district honors and wants to play a national schedule?
Posted on 10/22/25 at 1:44 pm to chalmetteowl
That would be interesting. Would be a mistake IMO. They are a couple rule changes away from squeezing their talent base amongst other issues that could change their fortunes. Albeit not exactly the same, we’ve seen plenty of schools in NO have the rug pulled out from under their programs for different reasons. They don’t have the legacy support funding to override the potential pitfalls, I’m not sure many schools do…. If they don’t it…. It will be ego driven and drive a wedge that will be hard to undue
